Filmmaker David Dhawan is all set to revive his 1995 classic comedy Coolie No.1 which will feature a fresh pair, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan. As per the recent reports, actor Paresh Rawal has been roped in for the film now.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Paresh will join Sara and Varun in Bangkok for a twenty-day schedule starting from August 5, 2019. The 54-year-old will be seen stepping in the shoes of veteran actor Kader Khan for the film. For those unaware, Kader Khan played the role of Karisma Kapoor's father in the original version. A source close to the film told the daily, "After wrapping up the overseas shoot, the team flies to Goa to finish another big schedule of the film."

The source added, "He plays the role of Sara’s father, Hoshiyar Chand, and the humour in the film revolves around his part. While the role in the original film was more in the orthodox zone, the new one has been tweaked as per modern sensibilities."

Earlier, there were reports that Disha Patani may play the second lead in the film. However, denying the reports, a source close to the film said, "It's not a big part, and the second female lead won't be an A-lister."

For the unversed, David Dhawan's 1995 directorial starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles.

On May 1, 2019, Varun took to his social media handle to announce the official remake of the film. He wrote, "Aaj ka Din, Agle Saal Aega Coolie No.1 - Hoga Kamaal !!! Coolie No.1 releases on May 1, 2020 #DavidDhawan #SaraAliKhan @vashubhagnani @poojafilms #1YearForCoolieNo1 #LabourDay"
