The trailer for Nikita Roy, a supernatural thriller headlined by Sonakshi Sinha, has finally dropped. However, the first impression hasn't quite created the suspenseful grip expected from a film in this genre. Despite its eerie visuals and layered characters, the trailer misses the mark in offering edge-of-the-seat excitement.
Directed by Kussh S Sinha, Sonakshi’s brother, the film also stars Paresh Rawal and Arjun Rampal. This marks Kussh’s directorial debut. While the concept leans towards psychological horror, the trailer tilts heavily into supernatural territory, possibly in a bid to attract genre fans. The release date has been set for June 27, 2025.
Sonakshi Sinha plays an investigator trying to uncover dark secrets around a mysterious healer, Amar Dev, portrayed by Paresh Rawal. Rawal’s character appears to hold an eerie spiritual command, with the trailer hinting at sinister undercurrents. Arjun Rampal appears as a paranormal expert—clad in glasses and a heavy beard—whose cryptic message, “Truth is the world’s biggest lie,” adds to the film’s murky tone.

But the current cut of the trailer heavily markets the supernatural aspect, possibly steering away from the original tone. Also part of the cast is Suhail Nayyar.
Interestingly, Nikita Roy was wrapped in 2022. It’s only after a wait of more than two years that the film is finally set to hit theatres. Sonakshi, who recently earned praise for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, was last seen in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Kakuda, both of which released earlier this year.
While the trailer hasn’t generated much excitement, it remains to be seen if the full film brings something stronger to the table. With its themes of power, belief, and deception, Nikita Roy might still manage to intrigue audiences when it releases later this month.
