Saif Ali Khan Was Thrown Out of his Debut Film Opposite Kajol in Bekhudi

Saif Ali Khan is one of the finest talents of the Bollywood industry. Despite coming from a royal family, Saif carved his own niche with his hard work and determination. Right from slice of life films like Dil Chahta Hai, Salaam Namaste to intense thrillers like Omkara, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the actor has proved his mettle with every film and has no plans to stop.

However, the beginning of his career was not good. In a recent chat, Saif makes a shocking revelation as he reveals that he was thrown out from his first film for being irresponsible. Directed by Rahul Rawail, it was a 1992 romantic drama, Bekhudi that was to star Saif alongside Kajol, who was also marking her debut with this film. However, Khan was pulled out of the film and was replaced by another debutant Kamal Sadanah

Recalling the first day of shooting for Bekhudi with director Rahul Rawail and co-star Kajol, Saif told Mumbai Mirror: “I had to tear through fake cobwebs and emerge, singing a line that went, ‘Chaahat Ki Raahon Mein, Kyun Itna Darti Hai’. It was not easy because my expression had to change as I went from ‘chaahat ki raahon mein’ to ‘kyun itna darti hai.’

Saif continued, “I might just about pull it off today, but, back then, straight out of a boarding school in England, I was petrified. I must have performed really badly because soon after, Rahul Rawail threw me out of the film, complaining I wasn’t showing enough interest. That shot, I must admit, was particularly appalling.”

Speaking of Bekhudi, the film turned dud at the box office and marked the debut of actresses like Kajol. Bekhudi also starred Tanuja, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Farida Jalal.

After being thrown out of the film, Saif made his acting debut with the film Parampara in 1993. Directed by Yash Chopra, the film was a commercial failure and Saif’s first hit came a year later, in 1994 with Yeh Dillagi, alongside Akshay Kumar and Kajol.

And the rest is history. It's been a good run of more than 25 years in the industry for Saif Ali Khan and he continues to impress the audience with his stellar performances.

Saif was last seen in Jawaani Jaaneman, which marked the debut of star kid Alaya F. He will be next seen in Bunty Aur Babli 2 co-starring Rani Mukerjee. The film is a sequel to the 2005 film of the same name. The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutant Sharvari in lead roles.
