Earlier this year, the makers of ‘Chehre’ had announced that the release of the film has been postponed. Directed by Rumi Jaffrey, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. The film also features Annu Kapoor, Krystle D’Souza, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Raghubir Yadav, Siddhanth Kapoor and Rhea Chakraborty.
The film had made headlines as this will be Rhea Chakraborty’s first outing on the big screen after the demise of her boyfriend and actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
In a recent interview, Rumi confirmed that Rhea will not be a part of the promotional campaign of the film. He told SpotboyE:
“Abhhi woh apne haadse se nikal hi rahi hai…She’s just getting out of her trauma.”
Previously, Rhea had gone missing from the teaser of the film and was also snubbed from the film’s poster. There was even a lot of speculation about her presence in the film. The filmmaker reveals that she doesn’t have a big part in the film:

So those who go to see my film in the hope of getting a good look at Rhea are in for a disappointment. The main focus of interest is Bachchan Saab and Emraan’s jugalbandi. Their interaction is what gives the film its tense appeal.”
Speaking of Chehre, the mystery thriller film was slated to release in theatres on April 9, 2021, however, the makers had issued an official statement confirming that the film has been postponed until further notice.
The official statement was as follows:
“Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and new guidelines for cinemas, we are unable to release our movie Chehre on 9th April and have decided to postpone until further notice. We have received an overwhelming response on our trailer and we are grateful for all the love and support. We have decided to bring Chehre to audiences theatrically when the environment is more conducive for the experience.See you in cinemas very soon, until then stay safe and healthy!
