Ram Gopal Varma Says He Has No Interest in Working with Janhvi Kapoor, Sticks to His Admiration for Sridevi

Ram Gopal Varma, a filmmaker known for his deep admiration for the late Sridevi, recently opened up about her daughter, Janhvi Kapoor. In a candid interview, he spoke about his admiration for Sridevi’s unmatched talent and shared his views on Janhvi’s career in the industry. I don’t see Sridevi in Janhvi yet, he said, offering a clear stance on the subject. His remark surprised many, especially given his long-standing affection for the legendary actress.

Interestingly, Janhvi's co-star from Devara, Jr NTR, had earlier mentioned that during a photoshoot, there was a moment when Janhvi looked like her mother, Sridevi. Despite this, RGV dismissed such comparisons, referring to them as a Sridevi hangover. He explained that the overwhelming legacy of Sridevi often made fans compare her to Janhvi, which he didn’t think was fair. He also expressed his respect for Sridevi's diverse performances, saying, Be it Padaharella Vayasu or Vasanta Kokila, she delivered a range of performances. He recalled that while watching her, he was so captivated that he forgot he was a filmmaker and simply became an audience member.

When asked if he would work with Janhvi Kapoor, RGV was blunt. I liked the mother right, not the daughter, he said, making his stance on the matter very clear. He further clarified that his words weren’t meant to be disrespectful, explaining, Honestly, throughout my career, there have been a lot of actors and big stars with whom I haven’t developed a connection. So yeah, I have no intention of doing a film with Janhvi.

On the professional front, Ram Gopal Varma is preparing for a comeback with a new project starring Manoj Bajpayee, his lead actor from Satya. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor continues to build her career, with her upcoming projects including Devara, Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari, and Param Sundari.
