Actor Ram Charan, who is enjoying the success of his recent film RRR, has revealed that he anticipated the movie to be a smash but never imagined it to be the top-grossing film in the world on its launch weekend. In an interview, he discussed the success of RRR as well as his experience collaborating with Jr NTR.
RRR is a fictionalised version of legendary liberation warriors Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharama Raju, played by Jr NTR and Ram Charan, respectively, in their younger years. The movie is slated in India before freedom. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson also star in the film.
In an interview with Variety, Ram Charan discussed the achievement of RRR.
"I fully expected it to be a great hit, but the No. 1 tag I never imagined – it was a pleasant surprise. That was mind-blowing for us, and I believe it was also mind-blowing for Rajamouli",
he said of the film's opening weekend performance at the global box office.
RRR hit the 900 crore mark internationally on Sunday, the tenth day of its release, being only the fifth Indian movie to do so.
Working with his friend Tarak and obtaining the size of success under the best director of India's directing is the best any actor could ask for, Ram Charan remarked. He went on to say that he and Jr NTR had a "so-called feud," but that they had been buddies even before RRR.
RRR was released on 25th March on the big screens and has been roaring high since then.
