Dadasaheb Phalke biopic in safe hands with Aamir; Rajamouli's team never reached out: Pusalkar Phalke

A new biopic on the legendary Dadasaheb Phalke, often hailed as the 'Father of Indian Cinema', is making headlines, this time for all the right reasons. With Bollywood icon Aamir Khan teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, the project has now received a significant nod of approval from Phalke's grandson, Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar.

In a recent interview with Amar Ujala, Pusalkar praised the commitment of the film's makers and said he has been closely involved in the project for the past three years. "Assistant producer Hindukush Bhardwaj kept visiting me, doing research and asking for every detail. I told him, you're working honestly, go ahead. I have no objection," he shared.

Calling Aamir Khan a "serious and honest actor," Pusalkar expressed full confidence in the team's ability to respectfully portray his grandfather's story. He also had high praise for director Rajkumar Hirani, saying, "Hirani has delivered some brilliant films in the past. With this duo, the film is in safe hands."

Pusalkar further revealed that what truly won him over was the filmmakers' genuine effort to keep the Phalke family involved at every step. "In today's times, it's rare for creators to consult family members. But Aamir and Hirani's team did, and that earned our trust," he said.

Interestingly, Pusalkar also addressed the earlier buzz around another potential Phalke biopic that was reportedly in the works under S. S. Rajamouli, with Jr. NTR said to be playing the iconic filmmaker. However, he claimed that Rajamouli's team never reached out to the family. "No one contacted me or asked for any details. If someone is making a film on Phalke ji, the family should be involved, we are the ones who truly know his story," he said.

With the Aamir-Hirani collaboration already raising expectations and receiving heartfelt family support, the upcoming biopic is shaping up to be a major cinematic event. As fans eagerly await more updates, it's clear that this tribute to Indian cinema's founding father is being crafted with passion and authenticity.
