R. Madhavan finds love at 42 in Fatima Sana Shaikh, who is 32 in 'Aap Jaisa Koi' trailer

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming Hindi-language film Aap Jaisa Koi, starring R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in leading roles. The film follows the journey of a 42-year-old man who begins to question long-held personal beliefs after meeting someone who challenges his understanding of love and companionship.

Set between the contrasting backdrops of Jamshedpur and Kolkata, the story centers on Shrirenu Tripathi, a reserved man who lives by routine. His life begins to shift when he encounters Madhu Bose, a confident and independent woman who approaches relationships on her own terms. What begins as a chance meeting unfolds into a slow but steady emotional connection that forces both characters to confront their emotional limitations and inherited ideas of gender roles.

The film is directed by Vivek Soni, known for Meenakshi Sundareshwar, and produced by Dharmatic Entertainment. Aap Jaisa Koi looks at not just romantic relationships but also broader themes of emotional expression, social expectation, and personal rediscovery. Madhavan returns to the romance genre after a gap and takes on the role of a man who is not traditionally expressive, yet emotionally layered.

Speaking about the film, Madhavan shared that the character of Shrirenu is among the most complex he has played. He described the film as one that examines how people who often go unnoticed in conversations about love and longing also seek connection. Fatima Sana Shaikh, who plays Madhu, said the role allowed her to explore strength and vulnerability through a different lens and described the process as emotionally immersive.

The supporting cast includes Ayesha Raza, Manish Chaudhari, and Namit Das, each contributing to the wider narrative of family, identity, and internal conflict. Rather than relying on dramatic events, the film appears to focus on small moments and emotional shifts.
