On a recent episode of Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, Salman Khan blended humour with candour, taking a cheeky dig at his younger brother Sohail Khan and former sister-in-law Seema Sajdeh. The moment arrived while Salman was reminiscing about his famously hospitable home, Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where friends often find themselves staying indefinitely.
The actor shared an anecdote involving celebrity photographer Avinash Gowariker, who had once sought temporary shelter at the Khan household. Salman revealed that Avinash ended up staying for years, long after he had found a place of his own. “He subleased his own place and stayed back with us because he liked the vibe,” Salman said, triggering chuckles.
But the light-hearted ribbing didn’t stop there. In a sly twist, Salman turned the story into a roast of his own family. Referring to his brother’s past relationship, he remarked, “Usi dauran Sohail ne bhaag kar shadi karli. Ab woh bhi bhag gayi hain,” drawing loud laughter from guests Navjot Singh Sidhu and Archana Puran Singh. The comment, though delivered in jest, alluded to Sohail Khan’s now-ended marriage to Seema Sajdeh.
Salman’s tale further included Avinash’s bewilderment at Sohail’s sudden marriage. He quoted Avinash saying, “This is not fair, how can you get married like this?” when Sohail asked him to vacate space for his new bride.
Sohail and Seema’s marriage had begun in 1998 with both Arya Samaj and Islamic wedding rituals. The couple had two sons — Nirvan and Yohan — and stayed together for over two decades before parting ways in 2022. Seema has since publicly moved on, and has hinted at being in a new relationship.
Salman’s comedic timing and uninhibited storytelling turned a personal anecdote into a widely shared moment, blurring lines between public humour and private matters — something Bollywood families often navigate with a mix of grace and grit.
