Pushpa 2: The Rule’s makers drop the latest update on film’s OTT release

Amid the record-breaking success of Pushpa at the box office, the film's team has now addressed the speculation surrounding Pushpa 2: The Rule's potential OTT release. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Mythri Movie Makers shared an update.

The production house tweeted, "There are rumours floating around about the OTT release of #Pushpa2TheRule. Enjoy the Biggest Film #Pushpa2 only on the Big Screens in this Biggest Holiday Season (red heart emoji). It won't be on any OTT before 56 days! It's #WildFirePushpa only in Theatres Worldwide (fire emoji)."

Pushpa 2: The Rule serves as the follow-up to the 2021 Telugu smash hit Pushpa: The Rise. This blockbuster hit the screens on December 5 with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam. It has become one of the biggest successes of 2024. Pushpa 2 has now entered the exclusive ₹1,000 crore club, alongside movies like Aamir Khan's Dangal, Prabhas' Baahubali 2, Kalki 2898 AD, SS Rajamouli's RRR, and Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan.

Under the direction of Sukumar, Allu Arjun reprises his role as the sandalwood smuggler Pushpa Raj, with Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli and Fahadh Faasil as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Pushpa 2: The Rule also stars Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj. The film has amassed a staggering ₹1004.35 crore nett in India so far.

Despite the film's record-breaking box office success, its release has been marred by controversy. A tragic incident unfolded during the premiere of 'Pushpa 2' as a female fan lost her life in a stampede at the screening. This unfortunate event garnered significant media coverage. Allu Arjun faced a brief arrest in relation to the incident but was later released the next morning.
