Nishant Malkani finally lands a lead role!

Rajita Sharma, the creative mind behind initial concept of Rajan Shahi's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Creative Eye's Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam is now turning producer with a lighthearted show on Zee TV.

The untitled show will be devoid of a rural backdrop and will not talk of any alarming social evil. Instead the show will be a very breezy lighthearted romantic story between a Punjabi girl and Gujarati boy.

Rajit Sharma's Magic Lantern is looking for a right mix of fresh as well as experienced people to be part of the show.

A little birdie tells us, "The show has as of now got its male lead in Nishant Malkani. Nishant who came to the limelight with Miley Jab Hum Tum has been liked by the production house and channel for his appealing and romantic look."

If source are to be believed, "Nishant has signed an exclusive contract for the show which means that he will no longer be part of Sasural Genda Phool in Star Plus wherein he plays the mysterious character of Raj."

We also hear that Nishant has put down his papers for Star Plus' show and will be shooting with them for one month only.

Rajita's show is expected to go on floors in August and the launch will be sometime in September.

We tried Nishant but he remained unavailable for comment. Our efforts to reach producer Rajita Sharma were also futile.
