Soni Razdan, the mother of Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, recently shared heartwarming anecdotes about their humble beginnings during an interview. Recollecting a trip to Dubai, Soni revealed that financial constraints led her to opt for a first-class ticket for herself while her daughters flew in the economy.

In an interview for the book Raising Stars by Rashmi Uchil, Soni emphasized the middle-class upbringing she provided for Alia and Shaheen. She recounted the amusing faces her daughters made when she informed them about the seating arrangement.

The interview sparked discussion online, with netizens expressing a mix of amusement and opinions. Some questioned the perspective of the affluent, while others suggested Soni should have joined her daughters in economy class to save money.

Soni reminisced about a flight where her daughters faced discomfort due to a reclined seat, yet they chose not to complain. She underlined her reasoning behind the choice, stating that her children hadn't earned enough for a business class seat at that time.

Reflecting on their financial journey, Soni mentioned that they never lived in abundance but managed well. The family resided in a two-bedroom apartment, and Soni personally drove her daughters to school in a Maruti Zen.

Soni Razdan, an Indian-British actress and director, has made significant contributions to the Hindi film industry. Married to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt since April 1986, she not only shared stories of financial prudence but also highlighted the values instilled in her children during their middle-class upbringing.
