Recollecting a trip to Dubai, Soni revealed that financial constraints led her to opt for a first-class ticket for herself while her daughters flew in the economy.

In an interview for the book Raising Stars by Rashmi Uchil, Soni emphasized the middle-class upbringing she provided for Alia and Shaheen. She recounted the amusing faces her daughters made when she informed them about the seating arrangement.
