The series revolves around the story of Akash who has been friend zoned – again, but undertakes a mission to be more than a shoulder to cry on and decides to go get his girl!

Mayur More, who played the lead role as a studious youngster in the first ever black and white series ‘Kota Factory’ was not only loved by audiences but also received  a great response from critics as well. A transformational shift in character, the Actor got into a conversation with us at India Forums where he spoke about his journey, experience and much more.

1. So first of all, how has the Journey been from Kota Factory to Girlfriend chor. Both the characters are extremely different from each other.

Actually, Girlfriend Chor happened before Kota Factory. I remember on the last day of Girlfriend Chor, the promo of Kota Factory was released. Somehow, Girlfriend Chor came after Kota Factory but we shot for it first. When I was shooting for Kota Factor, I had no idea that I'll do Kota Factory.

Journey has been very good, you learn something new from every project.

2. How was the experience of working with the entire cast?

It was a really good experience. It was a really exciting cast. I had never worked with them before. Since I am from theatre community, I saw Shishir sir alot and we knew each other but we never worked together.

3. What compelled you to take up the project?

Girish Jotwani, the Director and the Writer of the show. He convinced me that we can do it.

4. According to you, what's the best thing about your character in Girlfriend Chor?

A lot of things are there. Like Akash is in that zone, where everybody around him has a partner and you want to have someone as well but you can't. In those times, people often take bad decisions, Akash didn't have the power to take those decisions. His family gave him that power. I feel one should have patience regarding everything in life.

5. Between Kota Factory and Girlfriend Chor, which is the character with whom you can resonate more?

I couldn't relate alot with either of them. In Kota Factor, I was Vaibhav and he used to study a lot. Even for Akash, I have never been that involved in friend zone and all, however I have seen it happen around me alot.

6. How has the response been from your friends and family?

It's been good, it feels nice when your friends message you. There are a few friends who met you in school and then for various reasons, we didn't talk. Now, they know that I'm into acting field. I am getting really good responses but the good thing is that everybody is connecting to Akash, that this thing happened in their life as well at some point. So that's a good thing that you are able to connect to people through your art.

7. In future what are the various types of role that you'll like to play?

I would like to play everything. I want to do films in various languages. I don't know many languages but I would love to do either Bengali films, South Indian films, every kind of films. The things is that I love story telling. If the story is good then I would love to be part of it. There are some interesting projects which are going to come this year as well. I don't know when it will come because of the lockdown but yes, I am excited about all the characters I've played.
