Marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan passes away at 64

At the age of 64, Marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan left for a heavenly abode on Tuesday at his home in Mumbai following a heart attack.

Patwardhan was well-known for his comedic roles in Marathi movies. His passing has caused an industry-wide outpouring of grief. The actor had carved a niche for himself by working in Marathi plays, films, and television serials. Pradeep Patwardhan was known as a comedian in Marathi cinema.

The news of his demise was confirmed by the chief minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde. Taking to Twitter, the Maharashtra CM expressed his grief over the actor’s sudden demise and offered his condolences. He wrote in Marathi.

“Pradeep Patwardhan, the evergreen actor who ruled the hearts of the audience with his graceful acting in Marathi cinema, passed away tragically. With his departure, the Marathi art world has lost a great artist,"

The actor gained popularity with his character in the play 'Moruchi Mawashi' and was well-liked by the people. This role made him popular in the hearts of the people He soon became a popular name by playing characters in films such as 'Navra Maaja Navsacha' and 'Lavu Ka Lath'.

Pradeep Patwardhan was known for his work in Ek Full Chaar Half (1991), Dance Party (1995), Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy (2009), Gola Berij (2012), Police Line (2016) and 1234 (2016). He also starred in Anurag Kashyap’s 2015 film Bombay Velvet. However, he was away from the screen for some time now.
