Mahesh Babu clarifies his controversial statement of Bollywood can’t afford him

Mahesh Babu stated last week that he does not want to work in Hindi films because the industry "couldn't afford" him. Mahesh added in a new statement that he does not want to work for 'another industry' and only wants to do Telugu films. He's currently preparing for the release of his new film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata. 

Mahesh is a star in the Telugu film industry. Businessman, Srimanthudu, Bharat Ane Nenu, Maharshi, and Sarileru Neekevvaru are some of his successful films. 

According to an Indian Express report, Mahesh stated during a new interaction with the Telugu media that he has always wanted to do Telugu films. And He always wished for Telugu films to do well in India. Why, Because he believes, should they go to another industry while leaving theirs behind? He also said that he is overjoyed that his films are making it there (in North India). Telugu films are doing well across India, and his dream is coming true.

The actor added that "I don't need to do Hindi films,I can just make a Telugu film and it will be seen all over the world – and that is exactly what is happening right now. You'd like to be able to do (only) Telugu films." 

Mahesh's declaration comes just a few days after he stated that he is not interested in doing Hindi films. "I may sound arrogant, but I did get a lot of offers in Hindi," he said. “But I believe they cannot afford me. I don't want to fritter away my time. I never considered leaving Telugu cinema because of my stardom and love for the industry. I've always imagined doing films here and seeing them grow in popularity, and that dream is now becoming a reality. I couldn't be more pleased." 

Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Mahesh's new film, is set to be released on May 12. The film, directed by Parasuram and starring Keerthy Suresh, is Mahesh and Parasuram's first collaboration. Mahesh will soon begin work with filmmaker Trivikram on his next untitled Telugu project alongside Pooja Hegde.
