In a recent cover interview with The Dirty Magazine, Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor opened up about her decade-long journey of marriage to Saif Ali Khan and her philosophy on parenthood. The actress, who tied the knot with Saif in October 2012 after several years of dating, delved into the reasons behind taking the plunge into matrimony.
Kareena revealed that their decision to get married stemmed from the desire to start a family. "The reason you get married now is that you want to have a child, right? I mean today otherwise you can just live together. We [Saif Ali Khan and I] lived together for five years, so when we took the next step, it was because we wanted to have children," Kareena shared with the magazine.
The couple, now proud parents to Taimur Ali Khan (born in 2016) and Jehangir Ali Khan (born in 2021), has been navigating the realms of marriage and parenthood with a simple yet profound approach. Kareena emphasized that there is no "right or wrong way" to parent, emphasizing their commitment to treating their children as individuals. "We respect them, and we just let them be. They will figure it out, they will find their own path," she explained.
Addressing her perspective on parenthood, Kareena expressed her intention to live her life openly in front of her kids, stressing the importance of happiness for their flourishing. She stated, "I want to live my life in front of my kids, I want to do everything with them. We have to be happy na, then they will flourish. I’m responsible for my own mental health first.”
