Karan Johar clarifies: No lead actors have been considered for Dear Comrade remake!

A few reports suggested that Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor have been approached to play the lead for the remake of Vijay Deverakonda starrer Dear Comrade

Karan Johar is known to launch fresh new talents in Bollywood be it star kids or hard working individuals, he has a knack of picking out the best talents. A few days back, the 47-year-old director-producer took to his official social media handle and announced that he will be remaking the Hindi version of Bharat Kamma's Telugu action drama film titled Dear Comrade starring Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna.

As soon as Karan announced the remake, there have been speculations and various reports stating that Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor are being considered for the leads. The duo was last in Shashank Khaitan's Dhadak, which was a remake of Marathi hit film, Sairat. The film crossed the 100 crore mark on the box office and the sizzling chemistry between the two-star kids was highly appreciated by the audience.

Being one of the first to watch Dear Comrade, Karan Johar took to his official social media handle and shared a few details about the remake. He gave his best wishes to the team as their movie releases today, and also revealed that the primary star cast for the remake is yet to be finalized and the film's planning is underway.

This has sparked a debate online while some are frustrated with the producer-director choice to remake yet another movie and some are excited for the project others see this an opportunity for the growth and development in Vijay Deverakonda’s reputation throughout the country.

Dear Comrade is Vijay’s second movie to be remade into Hindi after Arjun Reddy. The 2017 flick was remade into Bollywood as Kabir Singh which not only starred Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani it was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who also directed Arjun Reddy. Both versions of the film received huge praises and were well received by audiences despite strong opposition to the message disseminated by the film.

On the work front Karan Johar last directed a segment Lust Stories in 2018, he has been gearing to don the director’s chair for Takht which stars Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Bhumi Pednekar in pivotal roles. 

He is currently busy co-producing a few films like Raj Mehta's rom-com titled Good News starring Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor, and Kiara Advani, and Ayan Mukerji's superhero film titled Brahmastra, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and Mouni Roy.
