The trailer of Kannappa, Vishnu Manchu’s long-gestating mythological drama, is finally out. With powerful visuals, spiritual depth, and major cameos by stars like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Mohanlal, the film has immediately stirred buzz across digital platforms.

The story revolves around Kannappa, a man who begins as a non-believer and transforms into a devout follower of Lord Shiva. The trailer opens with a striking moment — a young boy questions God’s existence and throws a stone at a Shiva idol. That stone is caught mid-air by none other than Akshay Kumar, introduced as Lord Shiva. The boy grows up to become Kannappa, portrayed by Vishnu Manchu. His journey from denial to devotion becomes the core narrative of the film.

The film, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh — known for mythological television works like Ramayan and Mahabharat — blends traditional storytelling with large-scale production. Vishnu Manchu, who also produces the film under AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, has described Kannappa as a spiritual calling rather than just a cinematic project. The project has reportedly been in development for nearly a decade, and production began in 2023 after years of scripting and pre-production planning.

What has particularly grabbed attention is the array of special appearances. Alongside Vishnu and Akshay, the trailer features glimpses of Prabhas, Mohanlal, Sarath Kumar, Mohan Babu, and Kajal Aggarwal. This mix of established names adds to the grandeur of the film, which is slated for release on June 27.

Filming took place in New Zealand, Hyderabad, and other visually rich locations. From the trailer, it’s clear that the makers are aiming for a visual spectacle. Hollywood cinematographers and global VFX studios have been roped in to build a convincing mythological world.

The music for Kannappa is helmed by an impressive trio — Devi Sri Prasad, Mani Sharma, and Stephen Devassy — who are expected to deliver a soundtrack that complements the film’s spiritual arc while also appealing to a wide audience.

As Kannappa readies for its theatrical release, the trailer has not only piqued curiosity but also raised expectations. Combining scale, belief, and cinematic ambition, the film aims to offer something distinct in India’s growing mythological cinema space.
