Along with Sapthami Gowda and Kishore, Rishabh Shetty plays the lead in his directed film 'Kantara'. The movie is based on the beliefs of coastal Karnataka and weaves tales of land politics and man versus nature with these beliefs. The movie has achieved both critical and commercial success.

In addition to being a critical and financial success, the movie has garnered appreciation from a wide range of performers and film personalities, from Prabhas and Rajinikanth to Kangana Ranaut and Varun Dhawan. Even though Rishab Shetty hasn't formally announced it, there have been speculations that a sequel is in the works. However in a recent interview, actor Diganth revealed that Rishab was leaving their upcoming movie Bachelor because he had to focus on Kantara 2.

Two weeks after the initial Kannada release of Kantara, dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil were made available. The movie has raked in more than $400 crore at the box office worldwide. It was made available on Netflix and Prime Video (in Hindi) earlier this month.
