Kantara: Chapter 1 team finally breaks silence on boat accident reports: 'No one was on the boat…'

The Kantara Chapter 1 team has clarified reports about a boat incident on set. Initial reports stated that Rishab Shetty and 30 crew members were on board when the boat capsized, but all escaped unharmed. However, the team has now confirmed that there was no actual accident during filming.

Adarsh JA, the executive producer of Kantara Chapter 1, has denied the rumors. According to The New Indian Express, he stated that no one was on the boat when it overturned in the Mani Dam reservoirs.

The executive producer clarified that the boat capsized due to strong winds and rain, with no one present during the incident, thus avoiding any casualties. He also confirmed the boat was part of the background and not directly involved in the filming.

He said, “No one was on the boat when it tipped over, and no accidents took place,” he assured. "Due to strong winds and rain, the ship set used as a backdrop had capsized, but since no one was near it at the time, there were no casualties or harm to the crew.”

The producer further clarified that reports of a shooting halt due to the incident are false. He emphasized that the boat incident happened away from the filming location, and the shoot proceeded as planned.

Adarsh assured the safety of the cast and crew, stating all necessary permissions for water scenes have been obtained. He also confirmed the presence of safety gear on set to prevent any potential accidents.

He added, “But our team members were not around it, and the actual shooting spot was away from that location. Everyone is safe, and shooting continues as planned.”

Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 National Award-winning film Kantara, with Rishab Shetty reprising his lead role, as well as writing and directing the film. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2, 2025.
