"I want to play grey characters that challenge me" - Shraddha Kapoor

Times couldn't have been more purple for actor Shraddha Kapoor right now. The actor is witnessing a return of sorts on the big screen after three years, where she was last seen in Baaghi 3, just as the pandemic struck.

Now, she is the leading face in probably one of the most anticipated films of the year, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (TJMM) opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

In an exclusive conversation with India Forums, I sat down with the actor to ask her multiple things.

One of the first questions I had was about how the actor has witnessed great highs in her career and became one of the most commercially viable actors. While she tried something different with Haseena Parkar in the past, it wasn't received well. Now, after all this time, as an artist, I asked her as to how important or willing is it for her to take up roles that may not be necessarily commercial or even likable?

To this, the lady answered, "I feel like, (I don't think if I can judge it before the film is out) but I like her (role in TJMM). Because I felt that how she is the one taking charge in this relationship, I like that about her. It is very inspiring to have a woman who is taking charge. Personally, I felt inspired as well and maybe not so much in the jhoothi aspects (laughs) but in the aforementioned aspects, I felt great and inspired."

She added, "So, as an actor, I felt it will be fun, challenging and even hope that I inspire girls out there that it is okay to take charge, even fun and confident to do that."

She concluded, "So far, I am glad people are saying encouraging and positive things. As an actor, I want to play different characters that challenge me and push me even if they are grey. At the same time, I also want to be a part of films that are entertaining. Because, as an audience, I am also that person who likes to eat the popcorn, samosa while watching a film in the theatre and be entertained. I want to see the nice songs, light sequences and dhamakedaar moments also. So, i want to definitely do all kinds of things."

We are certain fans cannot wait for Shraddha's return to the big screen with what seems to be a popcorn entertainer.
