Indrani Haldar, a popular name in Kolkata has carved a niche for herself in Bengali films. The talented actress will be seen in B.R Chopra’s new production for Sony Entertainment Television, Sujata Ek Stree Ka Samarpan. Sujata is the story of a woman and the woes of her life after her marriage. Telly Buzz caught up with the gorgeous actress to know more.

I can afford to experiment with my roles at this age- Indrani Haldar
Speaking about why she chose to move to television after a long gap, Indrani says, “I can just state one reason for accepting this role, and that is Ravi Chopra. He and B.R. Productions have been a very important part of my life. Secondly I accepted the show because of Sony. The channel has made many shows that have portrayed a lot of strength in women".

Indrani, usually known for playing bold characters is playing a very submissive wife and mother in Sujata. What compelled her to take up a role so different? Indrani quips, “I have always played bold and strong characters in my movies. But this was a completely different role compared to all the roles I have played. And right now, I believe I am at a point in my career wherein I can afford to experiment with the roles I choose to play.”

What does Indrani feel about the trials and tribulations faced by Sujata in the show? The actress replies, “I identify with Sujata because I feel there are lot of women who undergo such oppression in their lives. This is not merely because they don’t have the courage to say anything back. I strongly believe parents set a living example for their children, and it’s the same in Sujata too. There is a reason why her husband ill-treats her and the children also pick it up from him.”

On an ending note, Indrani says, “Sometimes we fail to realize that it is the small little things that matter a lot in our lives. In our struggle in life, we fail to realize the importance of people around us. So in spite of being busy with our hectic schedules, we should learn not to neglect these small yet important responsibilities of life.”
