Malavika Mohanan Hits Back at Trolls Over 33-Year Age Gap With Mohanlal

Malavika Mohanan has paired up with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for the much-awaited film Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad. Recently, the actress took to Instagram to share that the first schedule of the film has wrapped up. She posted some cheerful behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets, where she is seen smiling with Mohanlal and the team.

In her caption, Malavika expressed her gratitude and excitement for being part of the project. She wrote, “Learned so much from the stalwarts—Mohanlal sir & Sathyan sir. Just watching them, having them guide me, seeing how they bring cinematic magic to life… and all of this they do with so much dignity, respect and grace.” She also mentioned her experiences shooting in the hills and tea estates of Thekkady, adding, “Drank endless lemon teas to keep myself warm in the cold evenings… shoutout to the loveliest team of assistant directors without whom this film would not be what it is.”

However, amidst all the love, one comment stood out for the wrong reason. A social media user mocked the 33-year age difference between her and Mohanlal, saying, “65-year-old man playing the love interest of a 30-year-old. What is with these veteran actors desperate to play roles that don’t fit their ages?”

Malavika didn’t stay silent. Giving a strong reply, she wrote, “Who told you it’s a love interest? Stop judging people and a film with your half-baked baseless assumptions.”

Her fans came out in full support. One user replied, “Talking like you’ve already read the script.” Another said, “Grow up! Let the movie release first before throwing nonsense.”

With this graceful yet bold response, Malavika has won hearts again. Hridayapoorvam is now eagerly awaited and is set to hit theatres on August 25, 2025.
