'Do not want to repeat roles even if they are..': Mahir Pandhi on doing strong & successful characters

Mahir Pandhi, who has been a part of projects like Vanshaj, Choti Sarrdaarni, and Congrats My Ex and is currently seen essaying the role of Vanar-brothers Baali and Sugreev in Sony SAB's new show Veer Hanuman, feels that it's good that often actors are remembered for playing a certain role; however, he feels that they shouldn't accept the same role again and should venture into portraying different characters.

He said, "I believe every actor has a certain uniqueness, and while it’s great to be known for a successful role, I think it’s important to keep challenging oneself. Repeated roles might be tempting, but I personally want to diversify my choices to explore new dimensions of my acting," he said. "It’s about growth and pushing boundaries for me," he added.

He shared that he wants to explore roles outside his comfort zone and challenge him as an actor. He added, "Like currently I am essaying the role of Baali and Sugreev in Veer Hanuman; I would love to continue playing such hardcore characters, which pushes me emotionally, mentally, and physically."

He further said, "A character in a fantasy or sci-fi genre or even an out-and-out action role is also on my list. Basically, something that allows me to step into a completely different world and bring something unique to life for the audience to see and admire."

Mahir feels that romance, love triangles, thrillers, and murder mysteries are consumed more than any other genre today. He said, "These genres have universal appeal. However, I personally enjoy a wide range of genres. While I enjoy a good thriller or romance, I also love experimental and offbeat films—something that challenges the conventional storytelling methods. Watching something fresh always excites me.''

What about comedy? "It is a tricky genre, but also one of the most powerful and loved forms of entertainment. I feel these days very few comedy movies or shows are made because not everyone can write it. And the ones that are already on-air are doing great because of the good writing," he said.

"I believe this genre needs more attention and proper development. Comedy, when done right, can create some of the most memorable performances, and it’s something I would love to be a part of," Mahir ended.
