Harnaaz Sandhu reveals that she is suffering from Celiac disease

Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Sandhu recently opened up about her Celiac disease, which garnered a lot of attention. Everyone is discussing it and trying to define Celiac disease. Well, for those who don't know, Celiac disease is an immune disorder brought on by gluten-containing foods. 

This came to light after Harnaaz was publicly criticized for her weight on social media. While talking about her personal struggles as a woman and discussing women's rights in relation to the hijab controversy, she also disclosed that she is suffering from Celiac disease. 

As per definition, Celiac disease can result in both weight gain and loss. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases in the United States, the disorder can result in long-term digestive problems, depriving the body of essential nutrients. Gluten-containing foods, which are naturally found in rye, wheat, and barley, must be avoided by celiac disease patients. Additionally, it is present in bread, pasta, and cereal. Celiac disease, according to England's National Health Service, can result in long-term complications such as anemia and bone weakness. 

Unfortunately, celiac disease has no cure, but patients can manage their symptoms and avoid long-term complications by following a gluten-free diet. Harnaaz Sandhu stated at a Chandigarh event yesterday that no one knows she has Celiac disease and is unable to eat a variety of foods. Harnaaz continued by stating that she is a brave and confident girl who believes that regardless of how fat or thin she is, her body is hers to love.
