Today marks the birthday of a multi-linguistic and multi-talented actor. BollyCurry along with his fans celebrate the 44th birthday of R. Madhavan today.

Born to Tamilian parents Ranganathan and Saroja, Madhavan was born on June 1st, 1970 in Jamshedpur. Madhavan married Sarita Birje in 1999 and the couple have a son named Vedant who was born in 2005.

During his school days, Madhavan was interested in NCC and was awarded the Maharashtra NCC Best Cadet award which gave him a chance to travel to England with 7 other people as NCC Cadets. He planned to join the Air Force, however he missed the age cut-off by six months. He then changed career paths and started taking courses in public speaking for which he won the Indian Championship for Public Speaking and represented India in the Young Businessmen Conference held in Tokyo in 1992.

Madhavan's career began with an ad for sandalwood talc in 1996. He then went on to act in serials such as Banegi Apni Baat on Zee Tv and Sea Hawks on Sony TV. He was selected for screen tests for the movie Iruvar (1997) but was later introduced by Mani Ratnam in the movie Alaipayudhey (2000). This film won many accolades and his performance as a young husband was widely noticed.

Madhavan debuted in Bollywood with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein (2001) which was the remake of his second movie Minnale (2001). Since then he has starred in movies like Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar (2002), Ramji Londonwaley (2005), Guru (2007), Sikander (2009) & Teen Paati (2010). He has acted along with Aamir khan in two movies, Rang De Basanti (2006) and 3 Idiots (2009) for which he was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. The latter turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of all time.

Besides acting Madhavan was the host of the game show Deal Or No Deal aired on Sony TV. He has been a brand ambassador of PepsiCo, Fair and Lovely, and other such brands. He has also been an ambassador of PETA and was voted as the cutest vegetarian in 2006. He also mobilized funds for school renovation in Leh in 2009 after the city was damaged by flash floods.

Currently he is concentrating more on his Bollywood films and has appeared in Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Jodi Breakers (2012) and Taak Jhaank (2013). He has also appeared in the Hollywood movie Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D (2014).
