'Ghajini 2': A.R Murgadoss teases sequel; met Aamir Khan when he first visited Mumbai for 'Sikandar'

Fans of A.R. Murugadoss have been eagerly awaiting any updates on the much-anticipated sequel to his 2008 blockbuster Ghajini. The filmmaker has been dropping hints about Ghajini 2, keeping the buzz alive while focusing on his upcoming film Sikandar, starring Salman Khan. In a recent interview, Murugadoss shared some insights about the sequel and his current projects.

Ever since producer Allu Aravind expressed interest in continuing the Ghajini franchise, speculation about a sequel has been widespread. The 2008 Hindi remake of the Tamil film Ghajini (2005) was a groundbreaking success, becoming the first Bollywood movie to cross the 100-crore mark. Reports suggest that the sequel may be filmed in both Hindi and Tamil, with Aamir Khan and Suriya potentially reprising their iconic roles. However, Murugadoss clarified that while there are ideas for the project, nothing has been finalized yet. He mentioned that all involved parties are currently busy with their commitments but hinted that discussions would take place at the right time.

The filmmaker also addressed rumors surrounding his recent interactions with Aamir Khan. He revealed that when he first visited Mumbai, he met Aamir before the actor began shooting for Sikandar. They later reconnected on the sets of Sitaare Zameen Par and have stayed in touch over phone calls. While Murugadoss did not disclose any specific details of their conversations, his comments have only fueled fans’ hopes that Ghajini 2 might soon become a reality.

At present, Murugadoss is deeply involved in the making of Sikandar, his first-ever collaboration with Salman Khan. The film, scheduled for release on March 30, 2025, has already generated excitement with its action-packed teaser and hit songs. The movie also features Rashmika Mandanna in a key role and promises to be a thrilling spectacle for audiences. While Ghajini 2 remains a mystery, Murugadoss has assured fans that when the time is right, they will hear more about the film.
