Everything you need to know about Mohit Raina's new show!

21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897 is an intense historical drama.

Discovery Jeet's upcoming show 21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897 is based on a true historical event that the Sikh regiment of the Indian Army was a part of. Mohit Raina will be playing the role of Havildar Ishar Singh alongside Mukul dev who will be portraying the antagonist Gul Badshah. The show has been hyped from the recent screenings and we spoke to the actors who told us why it's worth adding to your viewing list.

The show will represent historical characters and the lead actors have put in a lot of effort to get into their looks. Mohit Raina talks about donning the look of a Sikh soldier, he said in a statement, "Nobody thought I would make a convincing sardar, but then when I tried the whole look, it turned out to be exactly the way it was visualised. Everyone was happy with the look. Once you achieve the look, your character is ready to be complete. I'm a Kashmiri so it was a little challenging to channel a Sikh character." The actor who is used to elaborate costumes from his role in Devon Ke Dev. Mahadev had to work on his Punjabi speaking skills as well. Mukul Dev also spoke about the many challenges associated with playing Gul Badshah, "It was difficult shooting with the kind of costumes I had as we shot in Leh where it was very cold, the high altitude didn't help either. As the days progressed we adapted to the rugged mountain terrain. My character is Pashtun so it was important I learn to deal with it. However, it wasn't challenging staying in character as it is well sketched and I've been trained well. In addition, the kaftan and robes are from pre-partition era and are designed well."

We also found out that the show is focusing on the real incident rather than dramatising it's subject. Mohit Raina said, "It will be slightly dramatised since a one day incident is stretched into a 60-65 episode series, so technically we have added a few onscreen elements but the broader story is the same but in between we have added fictional stuff to entertain the audience."

To those who are wondering if the show has any appeal amidst all the saas bahu sagas, the actor responds by saying, "Discovery Jeet is all about real life incidents, it is about underdogs creating a visual representation of it. Sarfarosh is about our people and so the story will interest Indians and Discovery has an international reach so the scope is huge."

I personally didn't like the music, nor the lyrics of Barbaad Raat... But, I have to say that Sanam Puri's vocals changed my perspective. If I hear the song on the radio, or listen to it online, it'll only be because of Sanam's excellent vocals!
