'Dus Ka Dum goes well with Salman's image' - Sajid Wajid

The musical duo Sajid-Wajid who recently made the nation rock to the tunes of ‘Mujse Shaadi Karoge’ and ‘Partner’ have now come up with foot-tapping music for the upcoming reality show Dus Ka Dum on Sony Entertainment Television that will mark Salman Khan’s debut in television.

Telly Buzz caught up with Sajid-Wajid at the music video release of Dus Ka Dum..

What was your first reaction like, when you were offered to work on the music of a reality show to be hosted by Salman Khan?
Sajid-Wajid: We felt it is a larger than life experience to be scoring music to Salman Khan’s debut show on TV. Whatever it is, Salman bhai does have ‘Dum’ in him!! We think it is a fully loaded show and Salman bhai's high energy level will be visible thro'out the video.

We have already seen Shahrukh coming up with Paanchvi Pass on TV, how do you think you Salman should deal with the competition?
Sajid-Wajid: I don’t think there should be any comparison here, as the whole concept of the two shows is different. I think Dus Ka Dum is a different show and the video and music is made keeping in mind the concept of the show. Above all, the show Dus Ka Dum goes very well with Salman Khan’s image and he has done a mind-blowing job in the video.

Was there any kind of pressure when you were singing the song for Salman for the video?
Wajid: It was an exciting experience. After the composition was ready, when Salman asked us to sing, I knew I had to deliver it. I have enjoyed very much while recording this song and I guess with time, we will get the results.

Tell us something about the video and your expectations from it?
Sajid-Wajid: The lyrics of the song will attract the kids’ attention and they will like it a lot. The foot-tapping music starts with Salman saying ‘Paanch Sawaal aur Inaam 10 crore.. Dus Ka Dum’.. Salman's trademark dancing style to the hip-hop number is going to have his female fans go weak in their knees for sure.

What do you have to say about the concept of the show, Dus Ka Dum?
Sajid-Wajid: I think it’s the first time India will be thinking in percentages. It is a fantastic idea as it relates to the common man, so one gets a chance to think what the nation thinks. After being a part of the show, we just want to give a tip to the audience that there is lot of money and if a contestant looses a game then he/she is 0 %.( Laughs aloud).

Did you both miss Salman Khan at the music launch?
Sajid-Wajid: Well, we feel that he is always with us. Most of the times he surprises us by meeting up from out of the blue! I think his belief in our music is very important and the faith that he has towards us makes us happy. We want to see him smile and his one smile of satisfaction will make us feel that my boys have done it!
