DQ Entertainment, Turner tie up for animation series

Mumbai, Nov 22 (IANS) Hyderabad-based DQ Entertainment has clinched a deal with Turner Network Asia for broadcasting its exclusive animation features on Cartoon Network next year.

Mumbai, Nov 22 (IANS) Hyderabad-based DQ Entertainment has clinched a deal with Turner Network Asia for broadcasting its exclusive animation features on Cartoon Network next year.

The features titled 'Balkand' and 'Ravan', based on the Indian epic 'Ramayana' will be produced by AIM-listed DQ Entertainment. They will be premiered on Turner's broadcasting channel in India Cartoon Network in 2009.

'This strategic collaboration is in line with our objective of producing first class content for Indian audiences. We are happy to partner with Turner as its Cartoon Network pioneers for showcasing Indian animation content,' DQ Entertainment chairman and CEO Tapas Chakravarty said in a statement.

DQ Entertainment, which produces animation movies, television series and console-based games for international production houses including Walt Disney, Nickelodeon Animation Studios Inc. and BBC has also collaborated with European partners for animation television series.

One of these is the second of 'The Large Family' series, based on a Jill Murphy book. DQ Entertainment will co-produce it with Coolabi Productions in Britain, Go-N productions in France, BBC kids channel Cbeebies and BBC Worldwide.

The other is based on Italian children adventure book 'Geronimo Stilton'. The co-producers of this series are Italy's Atlantyca Entertainment and France's MoonScoop Productions.
