'Deadpool and Wolverine' had an amazing first weekend worldwide. The 34th film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe made a whopping Rs 66.15 crore nett in India and had a huge opening weekend of around $205 million (Rs 1715 crore) in the US alone, as per the trade website Sacnilk.
The global numbers after its first weekend are mind-blowing, hovering around $438.3 million (roughly Rs 3670 crore). The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-led film has already positioned itself as the 12th largest Hollywood debut of all time at the worldwide box office. These figures are approximate, and the actual numbers might exceed these impressive estimates.
In India, 'Deadpool and Wolverine' kicked off with Rs 21 crore nett on Friday and maintained consistent collections over the weekend.
Internationally, 'Deadpool and Wolverine' saw significant success in various markets. It excelled in China, achieving an opening weekend of $24 million (Rs 200.92 crore), followed by the UK with $22.10 million (Rs 185.02 crore), and Mexico with $18.70 million (Rs 156.55 crore). This marks the largest opening weekend for an R-rated (equal to A-rated) film in both domestic and international markets.
Following a stellar weekend worldwide, the movie truly starts its box office journey on Monday. 'Deadpool and Wolverine' has proven its ability to stand alone without facing any competition in any market. This advantageous position will enable the film to achieve its full potential, and if Monday's figures reflect a double-digit amount, 'Deadpool and Wolverine' is set for continued success.
