Director SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated next project with Mahesh Babu is set to break new ground, blending mythology and adventure in an epic tale. The untitled film, which will feature Mahesh Babu as an explorer inspired by the characteristics of Lord Hanuman, is slated to begin production in April 2025. Adding to the excitement, Priyanka Chopra has been confirmed as the female lead, marking her return to Indian cinema after six years.

According to sources close to the development, Pinkvilla reported that Rajamouli sought a female lead with global appeal and found the perfect fit in Priyanka Chopra. “The film is in the final stages of writing, and is all set to go on floors in April 2025. SS Rajamouli was looking for a female lead with global presence, and who better than Priyanka to play the lead role. The filmmaker had multiple meetings with PC over the last 6 months, and the energies have aligned for both the stakeholders,” a source revealed.

Chopra, last seen in The Sky Is Pink, is eager to collaborate with the acclaimed director and superstar Mahesh Babu. “Priyanka Chopra is excited to collaborate with a maverick like SS Rajamouli and partner with Mahesh Babu to create an adventure like never before. It’s an unchartered territory for her as well, and the character has scope for a lot of action along with the leading man – Mahesh Babu. It’s a well-crafted role, and Priyanka has already started her prep for the film,” the source added.

The film promises to be a cinematic spectacle, with shooting scheduled to take place in Indian and US studios, as well as the African jungles. Talks are ongoing with global studios, including Disney and Sony, to co-produce the project. Filming will continue until late 2026, with a grand theatrical release planned for 2027.

This ambitious venture is Rajamouli’s first major project following the massive successes of Baahubali and RRR, and it aims to redefine the adventure genre on a global scale.
