The third chapter of the Hera Pheri film series has hit a roadblock. Paresh Rawal, a central figure in the previous two movies, has confirmed that he won’t be returning to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel. The decision, announced in May, sparked both fan disappointment and legal consequences.
According to reports, Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films, has taken legal action against Rawal. The lawsuit, valued at ?25 crore, accuses the actor of withdrawing from the film after key commitments had already been made.
While Rawal hasn’t provided extensive commentary on his reasons, a brief post on X (formerly Twitter) caught attention. When a fan urged him to return, calling him “the hero” of the series, Rawal responded curtly: “NO… There are Three Heroes in Hera Pheri.” The message, while short, pointed to the collaborative nature of the franchise, traditionally led by Rawal, Kumar, and Suniel Shetty.
The news has led to a wave of public reactions. Among the voices joining the conversation was content creator Ashish Chanchlani, who addressed Rawal with a heartfelt message online: “Paresh sir, I am sure you must be feeling burnt out by Babu Bhaiya, it’s a tough situation for you that no one will understand. But we all genuinely request you to come back. You are truly the soul of this franchise. I hope you find a way.”

Kumar and Shetty are still attached to the project, but Rawal’s exit leaves a major question mark over the role of Baburao, the quirky, debt-ridden landlord that helped define the comedic style of the series.
It remains unclear whether the filmmakers will recast the role, rewrite the character entirely, or attempt negotiations for Rawal’s return. For now, the production moves forward with a major piece of its puzzle missing, and fans left wondering what’s next for one of Bollywood’s most recognizable comedy trilogies.
