Reality shows often spark debate about what’s real and what’s planned — and The Traitors, hosted by Karan Johar, is the latest to fall under that scanner. Amid growing speculation online, participant Anshula Kapoor — entrepreneur and Arjun Kapoor’s sister — has responded to the claims that the show is scripted.
.
In a video shared on her Instagram on Tuesday (June 17), Anshula addressed the surge of messages she’s received since the show aired. And one recurring question seemed to stand out.
”‘The Traitors is scripted’ - How can this be the number one DM in my DMs right now? Guys and girls, Traitors is not scripted. There was not 1 per cent of a script given to any of the 20 participants of this show,” she clarified.
To add context, Anshula walked viewers through the early stages of the show’s production. She revealed that the entire cast was kept in the dark about one another’s identities until filming began. The makers went to great lengths to ensure minimal interaction among participants — even before shooting started.

“Let’s start with everything that went down to get us to start filming that first episode. There was so much secrecy. I mean, we weren’t told who our fellow participants would be,” she shared.
Recounting the journey to the shoot location, Anshula mentioned that despite flying with a few known faces like Ashish Vidhyarthi and Jannat Zubair, they weren’t allowed to mingle freely.
“When we were flying from Bombay to shoot for this…on my flight, I think Elnaz Nourozi, Ashish Vidhyarthi ji, Sufi Motiwala and Jannat Zubair were there. To keep it as secret as possible, even the check-in process at the airport, we were given different slots. We were all given a shadow. Even though most of us were probably going to the same hotel, because we were 20 participants, they had divided us into two different hotels where we were first staying in,” she said.
That control didn’t stop at travel. Once they reached the shoot location, the team was asked to surrender all gadgets.
“Two days back, we were sent to Jaisalmer via Jodhpur. And while we were getting checked in at the hotel, they literally were like, ‘Okay, you’ll have your phone for like three hours more’. Not just phones. All the electronic equipment. They were taking it all. It was all about isolation. Because they didn’t want us to form alliances outside the show. I think that the more you trust somebody from outside because you know them, the harder it gets. And I can speak of this from personal experience,” she added.
Anshula’s statement adds a new layer of transparency to the conversation around The Traitors, which continues to generate buzz for its unexpected twists — and now, its unfiltered behind-the-scenes truth
