With each and every theater being shut down due to coronavirus scare many are facing a hard time paying their employees, and single-screen theaters are surviving under worst conditions. Akshay Kumar recently stepped in to help a single screen theatre and his offer was politely turned down by the owner.

Yesterday, Akki had decided to help Gaiety-Galaxy owner, Manoj Desai, to pay his staff in times of COVID-19.

A Mid Day report stated that Manoj Desai, owner of the Mumbai cinema hall, had to take a bank loan to provide salaries to his employees amid the coronavirus lockdown. When Akshay got to know about the same, he called them and offered help.

While several rumors hinted that Desai has already accepted Akki’s aid, a recent report in SpotboyE revealed that the owner has in fact politely turned down the assistance. He further informed the actor that he would get back to him if at all he would fail to manage.

The report quoted Desai saying, "It was magnanimous on Akshay's part to have done what he did. I am honored. I really love and respect him, his donation of Rs 25 crore to PM Cares Fund is so laudable."

"Good you called me.  It was not clear whether I have taken Akshay's assistance or not. I thanked him and politely told him that I won't take it- at least not for now. But I must also tell you that I will never forget this call from him throughout my life. Honestly,  I feel honored that he thought of me and my colleagues,” Desai added.

The owner denied accepting help as he said: "Well, frankly speaking, I think I will manage.”

Desai was also quizzed if he received any phone call from Akshay previously, to which he replied, "A couple of times yes, to know about how his film is doing. Actors do call and it is good to give them feedback. A lot of Akshay's films have even run for 25-50 weeks in Gaiety Galaxy. And I repeat, I really love and respect him."

Akshay Kumar was among the first celebrities who stepped forward to donate money to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to aid needy people hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. He has donated a whopping amount of Rs 25 crores and encouraged others to do their bit.

“This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai,” Akshay wrote on Twitter. To this, PM Modi replied, “Great gesture @akshaykumar. Let’s keep donating for a healthier India.”
