Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has come to the rescue of daily wage cine workers who are left with no source of income due to the lockdown as all shootings are stalled. He donated Rs 45 lakhs to the CINTAA - Cine & TV Artistes Association to help 1500 workers, who are badly hit by the Coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdown.

The junior artistes and daily wage workers are facing a financial crisis after all shootings have been stalled since March, and according to CINTAA Sr. Joint Secretary Amit Behl, Akshay Kumar extended his help towards these workers and asked for a list of its members and transferred Rs. 45 lakh for their support. An amount of Rs. 3,000 is being deposited into bank accounts of every worker.

Earlier, Akshay donated Rs. 25 crores to PM Cares Fund to provide aid to the needy hit by the Coronavirus pandemic.  He also donated Rs. 2 crores to Mumbai Police, and Rs. 3 crores to BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation for the arrangement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the frontline workers.

Akshay also donated 1,000 smartwatches to Mumbai Police and 500 wristbands that have sensors to detect Coronavirus symptoms to the Nashik police for their safety amid the COVID-19 outburst.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will be seen next in Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi alongside Katrina Kaif. The cop drama was supposed to release in April but has been postponed to further notice due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
