Currently streaming on Prime Video, The Traitors India, hosted by Karan Johar, isn’t just your average reality whodunit; it’s the battleground of bold personalities, psychological warfare, and jaw-dropping confessions. And amidst the game of suspicion and sabotage, it’s Sufi Motiwala who’s become the voice you can’t ignore. Sufi Motiwala is a, sharp-tongued fashion critic, internet darling, and unapologetic commentator, but if The Traitors India proves anything, it’s that he’s also refreshingly self-aware. Recently the creator got into a candid conversation with India Forums and talked about a various things.

When questioned about the hate that often comes his way, Sufi didn't sugarcoat it. “There’s a group of people who don’t understand commentary, another that doesn’t get fashion, and a third who don’t even understand what I’m saying,” he said, half-laughing, half-exhausted. “They’ll latch onto one word and blow it up.”

But beyond the sass lies softness. “I’ve decided not to let my insecurities show,” he shared. “Yes, I’m insecure about my hairline, and yes, I’m just 20. But I won’t be cruel to myself anymore. A mask makes men cruel, I’m done with that energy.”

Of course, where there’s Sufi, there’s fashion... and controversy. When his comments about Abhishek Malhan made headlines, he clarified that it wasn’t personal, it was commentary. “You’re a creator. You have reach. And when you mock someone’s identity, especially during Pride Month, you’se teaching 12-year-olds that that’s okay,” he pointed out. “And the irony? He and his brother critique people’s bodies and faces for a living. But I say one thing about an outfit, and suddenly I’m the villain?”

On The Traitors, tensions flared between Urfi Javed and Apoorva, but Sufi refused to pick sides. “What we saw on TV was clear. It wasn’t a catfight, it was bottled-up emotion finally blowing up. And honestly? Poetic justice. Urfi’s chaos finally caught up to her. No hate, just observation.” Then came the juicier bits, the "Traitor Rapid Fire," where Sufi’s wit sparkled brightest.

When asked who looked most like a traitor based purely on bad fashion, he shot back without pause: “Raj Kundra. Those ties? Immediate ick.” And if someone were to be arrested overnight for something bizarre? “Harsh Gujral,” he laughed. “He probably said something so out-of-pocket at a show they had to cuff him.”

But he didn’t stop there. From wishing he could steal Apoorva’s perfume collection and Uorfi's guts (“Some of her heels take real courage, not always in a good way”) to praising Maheep's carefree energy and Jannat’s innocence (“If I had that, I’d be a millionaire by now”), Sufi’s fashion theft wishlist was pure gold.

When asked who's playing their PR game too well, Sufi named Elnaz without hesitation. “She was the actual mastermind. People loved that. She knew exactly what she was doing.” And as for soft-launching a new image through the show? “Me!” he declared, grinning. “I’m in my congenial era. My acting debut is coming this year, and I want everyone to fall in love with me.”

On the topic of catfish energy and flirty gameplay, Sufi named Elnaz as the ultimate player and Urfi as someone who’d “sweet talk her way to the finale.” And, of course, no chat with Sufi is complete without fashion shade. When asked who could slay in a sari between Ranveer Singh and Timothée Chalamet, he quickly leaned toward Ranveer, though he joked, “That name? Timote? Sounds like a weird pasta.”

He dubbed Urvashi Rautela the celebrity who could rock a trash bag and trend and admitted that he was only slightly ashamed, that he had definitely lied about liking someone’s outfit before. “You would, too, for a cheque,” he smirked. When it came to influencer wardrobes, Sufi picked international fashion icon Wisdom Kaye. “There should be a Squid Games-style competition when he dies for his closet. I will win that.”

As for influencers, he found them underdressed. “The DamnFam girlies. They went from TikTok to fashion overnight and skipped developing taste.” He didn’t hold back on blind western fashion copies either. “Honestly, even Urfi sometimes. And Nancy. I mean, I’ve seen spot-on recreations of designer pieces passed off as original. That’s cosplay, not fashion.”

Speaking of Nancy Tyagi, he added, “She tried at Cannes. But if that outfit wasn’t designed by her, she shouldn’t have taken credit. It’s not ‘Barbaadi’, just be honest.” When asked about ultimate red carpet royalty, he was quick to name Aishwarya Rai as India’s Cannes queen and Rihanna as the global Met Gala goddess. “She closes the steps, baby, pregnant.” He also praised Isha Ambani and Natasha Poonawalla: “They get couture. Always on theme. Always elite.” Catch all the drama and delicious digs on The Traitors India, now streaming on Prime Video.
