Kamlapati Mishra works in the District Magistrates office. He belongs to the higher caste and has paid a hefty price for it as his elder son set himself on fire protesting against reservation act. Kamlapati’s wife Saroj is still grieving the loss. Their younger son Shivam attempted suicide as he failed in the IAS exams. Despite all the difficulties Kamlapati never moans about his personal and professional problems to anyone. It was Kamlapati who encouraged Aakash’s (their gardener’s son) keen interest to study further. He admires Aakash and loves him like a son.
Sumedha is Ramapati’s (Kamlapati’s younger brother) daughter. She is a 20 year old beautiful, vibrant and a happy-go-lucky girl who lives life to the fullest and enjoys spending time with her childhood friend Akash. Sumedha is not inclined towards higher degree of education but decides to secretly appear for the IAS exams when her brother fails in his attempt. Seeing the family in tremendous pain, she decides to fulfill her uncle Kamlapati’s dream.
