Anger is a double edged sword. Shaurya has righteous anger mostly and his heart is in a good place, but he doesn't consider boundaries when he is really pissed off. He did that twice in today's episode, when he bullied Vicky at the Sharmas and Mami at his house. Don't get me wrong. I totally enjoyed both the scenes. I don't even expect him to deal with them any differently. But there is a good chance that he can be misunderstood for his boundless anger. Anger, when directed properly, can give good results, but there is a good chance that this anger can misfire sometimes, like he did with Mahek in ISC contest. He thought she humiliated him by calling him a womanizer in front of the crowd and even her Kantha chachi said so too later, when he is anything but. Though he flirts with all the girls to put on a facade that he is over his ex, he was too hurt to get involved too much and he is not frivolous when it comes to physical relationships. Shruti said so once. Then Mahek unknowingly hurt him further by reminding him that he is not the son of his mother and he doesn't deserve compassion. This is when he went too far in slandering her. All his life he has seen selfish, nasty, unapologetic and unforgiving people and Mahek's behavior those days made him think of her that way too. Good thing is that he didn't turn completely bitter to not feel others' pain, thanks to the abundant unconditional love Karuna showered on him. When his mother asked whether he felt good after hurting Mahek, he realized that he didn't. When Mahek came to the after party of ISC, she not only forgave Shaurya for all his mistakes but also apologized for overstepping her bounds sometimes unintentionally. She took the first step to mend the relationship, even though she didn't hurt him intentionally, and she lifted the burden of guilt off his heart. That's when he realized that she is someone genuinely good at heart like his mother. He fell in love with her, got to know her family closely and realized that they are also big hearted. Now he has more loving people in his life, but that doesn't mean he is a changed man. He will always be hotheaded, though he might mellow down a little bit. He might learn to stop and think sometimes, before acting in anger. But the core of his person is his anger and it will cause him problems from time to time.
Mahek's problem is boundless patience and submissiveness. She agreed to let the doctor look at her just to earn her family's trust! Shouldn't they trust her instinctively and stand by her?! Can't she stand up for herself?! Then Kantha was ready to put Mahek through a chastity test for the sake of the society! How humiliating is it for a girl?! Though Kantha is a nice woman, she brainwashed Mahek into moulding herself according to the society's standards of how a sanskari girl should be, so that she won't fail in the responsibility entrusted on her by Mahek's parents. Mahek has this need to please everyone in her household. She was ready to marry a creep like Ajay just because her dadaji threw a fit. Mahek needs to learn to draw boundaries and make people respect them. With Shaurya's presence in her life, she may learn to be more assertive. But the core of her person, to soothe and please people with her love and understanding, will not change.
