The Manuscript Marauders Bingo Challenge Thread
@whiterose (Aashi) , all the moments of fun, sadness, stupidity, blunders, righteousness, maturity, etc that we have with our friends are always something that can be referred to as "creating memories"(good or bad) , when we look into them from future. These memories are to be cherished or cursed forever on the basis of how that moment at that time went by and what consequences it caused. So, as you said that if we put aside the incident of Fatmagul for just a second, then the four friends were actually having a very wonderful moment which could have been turned out to be such a treasured memory forever. I think I disagree, because that unfortunate incident with Fatmagul was a part of that moment. What they did to her describes them and the moment. According to me, it doesn't matter if you are drunk, on drugs on out of your conscience. Nothing justifies the crime they committed. I think, your subconscious state of mind should never be so overpowering to you to change your character. What these four friends did to Fatmagul on that unfateful night was indeed a part of their character, their life, their morals and their conscience. A drunk man is not allowed or expected to murder someone or rape someone. They murdered Fatmagul's soul that night, snatched away all she had, her respect, honour, love and trust. They made her life a meaningless hell. My heart goes out for the real victim.
I hope you understand @whiterose . I couldn't stop myself from sharing this with you.
Also, though the character Kerim is utterly lovable, kind, brave and a sort of saviour for Fatmagul, yet I just couldn't forgive him for his fault on that dreadful night. Though he didn't rape and is on the path of full repentance, even then I am having hard time completely forgiving him. I just don't think that he yet deserves Fatmagul's love. Maybe she can trust her, but I am not sure of love. I believe my view will change as the show progresses and Kerim emerges out to be an ultimate hero. I guess some of you might agree with this thought. By the way, no hard feelings and I totally love Engin Akyurek.
Lastly, I have to write this, though some of you might disagree. Some of you pointed out that Fatmagul roaming around in the village alone is unrealistic and a bit foolish. I totally disagree. I don't think she should think even twice before going anywhere alone in a place she spent her entire childhood in, that too in broad daylight. We all might agree that some cautions should be taken at night by girls all around the world to roam freely but here Fatmagul did nothing wrong. She should not be afraid to wander the streets of her village in daylight. She hasn't committed any crime , then why is it expected of her. After being a part of such a soul-wrenching crime, I don't think that any sort of boundaries be put on her. Clearly she is resentful and rebellious more than ever. Its normally expected. She shouldn't be judged on going back to Mustafa's place or even the place where she was raped or anywhere as a matter of fact . She is obviously going through an emotional turmoil. She must have all sorts of feelings to be thought over. But it should not be expected of Mustafa or anyone to grab and kidnap her. All I am trying to say here is that she should be left out from any more judgements, boundaries and expectations. She has to win the battle for herself and roaming around freely in her village to recollect and rethink some old memories is a part of that tough battle. I have to admit that I am a big time feminist and literally can't endure to see girls all around the world suffer all degrees of crimes every day. This situation was pretty much similar so I had to express my views.
