Fawad khan is NOT bound by a contract for Dharma Productions!
Neither Karan Johar nor any three film deal with Dharma is holding back Fawad Khan from taking up Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati.

After Kapoor & Sons success buzz was that the Pakistani sensation had signed an exclusive three film deal with Dharma however seems like these were just rumours...
Fawad Khan came to Bollywood and literally took the industry by storm not just with his good looks but also his acting prowess. Karan Johar had openly admitted how his mother was a huge fan of this Pakistani import. In fact, B Town ladies irrespective of their age were going gaga about Fawad. While his debut Khoobsurat did not exactly launch him in the bigger league of stars his role in KJo's Kapoor & Sons catapulted him in the best performers group. It was believed that Karan had specially added more meat to his cameo in Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Hush hush talks in tinsel town also suggested that Sidharth Malhotra felt sidelined by Fawad and even had a grouse against his mentor about K&S.
Now, there are reports doing rounds that Fawad is in the running for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati. But the actor is bound by a three film deal he has with Johar's Dharma and hence cannot sign up for this role. A source told Bollywoodlife that there is no truth to any of this. Our source added, "Fawad has no three film deal with Dharma. Karan Johar is very busy on work front and has no time to mentor anybody. Moreover Fawad's work is being managed by his team who guides him about filmy projects."
Looks like Karan's fondness for Fawad as an actor has been misconstrued and rumour mongers are reading too much into this whole matter. So one thing is clear that neither KJo nor any three film deal is holding back this Khan from taking up SLB's Padmavati.
