Everyone out here understands what you want to say and totally respect your opinion...
I wouldn't talk about how the show is shaping up now instead I would talk of why the first episode made me open a DT for the same show... It was the character jassi... Yes I opened this thread only and only because of jassi... Not because she was right,pious,obedient or anything but because she is this woman who one may come across in every day life or even in your neighborhood... She is flawed.. She is extremely wrong.. She committed mistakes... But there was no one who would make her realise that what she did was wrong... She is trailing the same dark path even now... The initial concept of the show was to highlight what a woman feels... We as a society always shy away from talking certain things... Jassi belongs to the same society... Hence she keeps referring the parda even when she talks to her friend or even to varinder... Which is a valid point... She doesnt want that veil to open... Somewhere she knows she's at fault but she's busy hiding it at the expense of defamation...
We got to know about how she landed up here... A reason being that her husband left her with his family... Again your claims on this that a woman left by her husband doesnt get a licence to sleep with his brother is morally and ethically correct... But jassi landed in this mess or rather created this mess.. Sia, me and neerjaa had this initial discussion on the thread, that one thing leads to another, and that's what has happened with them... One thing led to another... Varinder flowed with this tide of emotions... Jassi found solace in his arms... She shared everything with him... The void that narinder left in her life was filled up by varinder... Through the years she developed a sense of possessiveness about varinder...
Also remember the episodes where varinder would claim not to marry because the thought scared him as he saw his brother would be fulfilling his responsibilities as a son but miserably failed as a husband...
The motto of the show to shed a light on women's emotions, desires and needs and I don't find anything wrong in it... For her needs, for her desires she made a blunder... Logic leaves when emotions are high... Being the daughter in law she couldn't share her grief with her MIL, she found an ally in varinder... But one mistake... And that one thing led to another and now she's in a trap...
Its not about who is more worse... Its about circumstances.. Its about how mistakes or ignorance by certain ppl can twist the situations... Being a middle class family it was pretty much needed of narinder to go for work... There was a compromise... But what next? Did narinder pay much heed to jassi's qualms after that? Even if he had a decent job with a sufficient salary why didn't he take jassi with him? His mother had varinder right? She wasn't alone... Narinder's ignorance spoiled the situation more... Varinder was already an ally to jassi which made her go towards him... And yes one mistake which led ro a chain of follies... Varinder gave jassi a support was again a mistake... Did beeji ever uttered that jassi should go with narinder?
So all in all, one cannot judge who is more worse...
Why the show has lost essence?
Its the loose plot... The makers started off well, but have lost track... They don't know where they are heading... It was already a sensitive issue and the way they ruined is unimaginable... Ajai Sinha could have done better with it owing to his past works as astitva and hasratein which were also bold in those times but they made a mark because of their tight script and content...
AA had a lot of scope but all got trashed as the emotional states of the leads aren't explored properly... The initial episodes were great specially the scenes where jassi expressed her agony... Its not about sympathizing with her... Its about understanding her situation, her POV... Jassi's character got ruined once narinder was back.. And this is where the makers failed miserably... The dynamics of the trio- narinder jassi and varinder... Had they handeled it properly the show wouldn't have suffered such dislike... I was pretty much pissed off with the way jassi cried on narinder's departure... The girl instead of crying should have told what she felt, the way she told varinder... She told him that she was tired of living alone... But was that sufficient? What did narinder do? He again left.. I simply don't understand this fellow... Once again he left, and jassi went to varinder... I expected that she would be a bit cut-off from narinder owing to the distance they always had... But the cvs made it smthn else and the show's main aim was lost...
P.S- Morally and ethically what jassi is doing is wrong... But again as I said she isn't a typical BT or any other bahu... She's this modern day woman who u may find in ur neighborhood having an affair with someone.. The difference is that jassi found that in her home itself... I as a person don't support what jassi did... She definitely lost her way owing to many factors... But again I can't applaud the show as i did when it started for a simple reason that the cvs have ruined it owing to the emotional backdrop... Instead of showing how despo jassi had become for varinder, they could have revealed her mistake in open and further her journey of redemptions... But yes its ruined beyond hopes now... I now see this as a baseless po*n shit...
