Zaroon as a university lad was full of confidence. His getting admission in the college, having his father's closest friend as his professor just made him all the more cocky and he was like the master of all he surveyed. That's a very feudalistic attitude and he did hv those tendencies, chauvinism very much being one of them. He probably saw himself as the benevolent leader of all his classmates and hence considered his duty to befriend the lowest of low (as Kashaf wld hv seem to him), so tht he cld hv another follower all ready to fawn over him. I ma not saying his intentions were bad, but I guess he was used to such kind of treatment and did not even think twice over if anything was wrong with it or not. That's Y Kashaf making him conscious of his class really got to him nd he mentioned in his dairy tht he had never been dis class conscious as Kashaf had made him feel that day.

So I think it was just his nature to play the popular guy and befriend what he wld consider Kashaf 'a bechari', who not only seemed to come from a poor family, but dressed so conservatively and had no looks to speak of. Again this was evident when he wonders what makes Kashaf so proud as she belongs to an average middle class family, with no looks and personality to speak of.

Yup he had that attitude...but I guess his intention was never really bad. He was competitive and aggressively so... but wouldnt intentionally cause any major harm. Plus if Kashaf hadnt been rude to him unnecessarily things wouldnt have escalated with or without Asmara's prodding. He might have proceeded to ignore her for the rest of the two years.
I dont think he took his own 'will woo and then dump Kashaf' plan seriously either. Crushes/Infatuations were all in a day's work for him. He was casual about it as in his college life he was pretty much a commitment phobic. He didnt think he would majorly hurt Kashaf...just salve his ego in front of his friends and the whole class and move on.

OK guys I just realized that there was a lot of similarity between Kashaf going to university and me going to University. Firstly mine too wasn't a college, but a University (nd in fact the University I went to has been quite a lot in the news for one reason or the other😆) and it was one of the most prestigious and famous Universities. Like Kashaf I never thought I wld get admissions der, but I did.

Also I was the odd one out in my class, not coz of class or financial difference, but coz all my other classmates were Bengalis and I was the only non-Bengali and worse was I didn't even know the language nd we had professors giving lectures in Bengali too. Also teh Univ was very far from my house and never in my life I had traveled to such far places before and I wld change various transports to reach d Univ. First wld take metro, then d bus, then an auto too sometimes. But I would enjoy my journey. I wld make sure to take different routes and the way I came to know my city in my univ days, I wld hv never come to know otherwise.

The first year toh I literally sleep walked through it nd didn't even know the system in place. Den slowly I became frnds with my classmates, especially 2 of dem, whom I'm still in touch with and made a place for myself.

So attitude wise I was very different from Kashaf. I did feel the odd one out, but never in a bad way. Also der was dis guy who was very popular, but I had never interacted with him. He wld write articles in a major newspaper. Once we had d University fest and just on a wimp I decided to take part in d creative writing competition. But the topics really put me off, as they were too intense. So I just wrote a humorous poem on one of the topics and guess waht I got the prize.😳😆 So after the fest I was waiting in a queue to pay my fees and dis guy is behind me. He comes up to me and strikes a convo and says he was impressed with my poem.😳 I was tooo shy and having come from a convent background was never comfortable talking to guys. But after that he wld sought me out and we wld exchange pleasantries and were friendly enough. 😆

No he never had bad intentions and actually he was in fact very taken aback when Maria told him dat Kashaf does not think highly of him, as he rpobably did not find anything wrong with his attitude and guess dat just makes him all d more adamant to hv Kashaf fall for him nd he executes his very stupid plan.😆 but accha hai kiya, esle we wldn't hv got such awesomeness.😉

@Munira: Thanks for sharing...I dont have much common with Kashaf as far as my college days were concerned. Though yes like you I got to explore my city during my college days as that was when I was independent the first time in life.

What Maria told him and also that Kashaf was friendly with Osama...that was too much for his ego to digest. 😆

Yeah situation wise its kinda similar as being the odd one out, but attitude wise I too was very different from Kashaf, but of course we know Y where Kashaf is coming from with all her attitude.

My Univ was such a cool one, we never had compulsory attendance as d think tank felt tht being in univ one shld be mature enough to know whether one ones to attend classes or not. U enter late, u simply enter and quitely take a place, no explanations and also no formality with professors, so u genuinely end up respecting them for being the kind of teachers and humans they r, den for the sake of it. And just like Zaroon, we cld enter a professors room and chat up with him/ her.😆

Zaroon is Zaroon...probably did that with his bosses and Kashaf's bosses too later in life. 😆
Only chatting up to Kashaf was a problem.

Hajmola is to help me digest corruption, nepotism and other not so important stuff like constipated actors, bad writing, bad direction etc etc.
