Not sure if this will be covered later...but what does Asher think of lack of Khizer's presence in Khirad's life? Doesnt it look fishy to him?

A comment under the review on dramapakistani, that I liked.

"I felt Ashar was truly repentant. He never remarried and look at all the things he said to his mother? Did he not ask for forgiveness? If he had not done any of those things then I would have said no Khirad should not go back to him, but what I believe due to my faith, if someone is truly repentant and asks for forgiveness why can you not? I believe that god forgives us when we do wrong. And we are his creation so who are we to not forgive each other as human brings when we are so flawed.
Ashars mother did all those things to Khirad not him, yes he made mistakes but we have already gone through that, but he did not kick her out or even divorce her. He was truly gutted and ashamed when he found out and it's not like Khirad was back in love with him still, it would probably take a long time as she said the love is lost somewhere. He is the one who fell back in love with her even thinking he would forgive her for her apparent indiscretion. I am not saying Ashar is perfect , he had flaws, but he saw a very compromising situation with his own eyes, and the very detailed buildup his own mother had executed, most men would act like that.
We as women have to realize a makeup of a man is very different to how women think and act. By nature women are more giving, emotional and patient. Can a man ever go through labour? Women bear children and go through the trials of pregnancy, childbirth how can they be equal? We can not compare women and men all the time in the same context as they have been created very differently. Yes there should be no injustices in the relationship and they should respect each other, but people have flaws and problems happen. I think you can work through issues if you want to, in Kankar Kiran chose not too and walked away. Again she did not have children. I don't know if you have kids, but I just can't explain how important they are. Ashar begged her to accept him for hareems sake, if she hadn't what would be the point of them both being miserable apart. Ashar I am sure would still not have remarried as she is the one he loved
Khirad stood her ground a very long time. Did she ever try to prove her innocence once she came back? Not once, She could have but she didn't. At the time of course she tried , anybody would".

And another one that I liked.. I hope no one minds if I post these, but these people put up an interesting discussion 😳

"So! Here are my never ending thoughts!
I remember the scene of the 1st pic in the review, and I never really liked it too much, because I couldn't understand the look that I saw on Khirad's face which was kind of guilty. I remember asking you about this many times over, and like many other things in HS, the tubelight comes on much later, in spite of watching it over and over again, this was one such scene which opened my eyes after I read this review.
Maybe this was also one of the scenes where she felt that as much as she detested this man, or so she thought "mohabbat mari nahi, lekin kho zaroor gayi hai" ***sigh***
Added to that her thoughts when Ashar takes Hareem to her room to read and then sleep. She probably felt that this is what her daughter is missing out on, with her parents being separated.
The friends visiting scene made more sense to me, after I read the discussions on that with reference to the novel and what it intended to establish.
Wanted to slap Ashar when he put her down by telling her not to bother to make anything for dinner for the guests. Mean, nasty, horrid. Just lashing out when he was not able to handle his emotions. And all because he kept fighting it by not giving it any thought.
When Khirad tells Hareem to stop talking nonsense when she asked her father for a brother, Ashar didn't know what to say, and Khirad actually bailed him out. Seems like this kind of bailing each other out were happening in an underlying way so many times. Khirad would try and reprimand Hareem by just calling her name in an admonishing way when she wanted Ashar to stay with her after reading her a story too. Similarly, he too intervened when Khirad was upset with Hareem about going to the zoom. Kind of trying to help out of a sticky situation. Sweet.
I loved the confrontation again when he said he didn't want her to speak to domestic workers about personal stuff. Yet again, she had the last word and he had nothing to say. Evidently leaving him flustered and not at ease with himself.
Sara was brilliant while she was speaking to Khizar. "kya musibat hai"! For a debutante, she was fantastic. I just loved the way she cut the call pretending she couldn't hear anything. Losing network! Lol I'm guilty of that too when I have had enough of the caller!
And then when she and Zarina are speaking about Khizar? I like the way they were talking as though they were not any part of the saazish at all. So often we meet people who believe that they have done nothing wrong and keep looking at the wrong doing of others! Typical case of that!
Loved the way Khirad hesitated before going to the bedroom which was once hers too. She had been told off by her husband, not too long ago, that this house was his, and naturally she would hesitate to just walk in there.
As always, he keeps blaming her for everything in his life. That was another scene I loved when he is trying to put words in her mouth, and she gives back the complete unexpected. I think he was hoping he could push her to say something about his "bhaagi hui biwi" and all she told him in not so many words was "buzz off"
Again, Khirad's words to come, that she doesn't consider him worth even having a conversation holds good.
Going over the conversation with the doctor in the car, was the turning point in my mind, of Ashar feeling anything for Khirad. When she asks the doc if her daughter will be ok, is what I think made him begin thinking that, Yes, she too is very worried about Hareem, and its not only about him and his anger towards her. There are feelings there, and he felt something for that. Might again be my imagination completely, but that marked the beginning of him softening towards her.
I have a very possibly dumb question to ask. I'm still trying to figure out why Ashar took so much offence to Sara's line of "pali palyaayi aulad bhi mil gayi" What does it exactly imply? I mean, I understand the line in the literal sense, but what is the insult? I'm missing that.
I also noticed this was the 1st of many things to come, that Ashar still doesn't like it when something is said to Khirad by someone else. (Sara asking her those loaded rhetoric questions) Another typical case of I'll say what I want to what is mine, but I won't take it from an outsider. Very normal human behaviour. Khirad possibly made another mental note there, that her husband hadn't told his best friend that she was back in town. But she was past caring to make anything out of it at this stage.
No words to describe Fawad as an angry young man. He was at his handsomest most in the last scene when he was telling Sara to leave. Clenching his jaws, he seems to put every nerve in him on fire with his anger! He is just too good. Mahira, OTOH, complements perfectly with her contempt and disgust. A very mild change in expression, but those eyes say it all. Add Sara with her obsession, Farida with her master plan fabulous direction, and almost every little main detail taken care of, (ignoring the level of Ashar's iced tea, among others as minute stuff that doesn't matter) no wonder HS was the blockbuster that it was and you had empty roads on the street!
(Folks, I promise I tried to make this short this time. But the words just don't stop! Lol)"

And another one...

"Aaah where do I begin!!! This is when I realized that Ashar has finally started to melt, little baby steps. It was an incredible journey when they fell In love and it is even more amazing how The love is rekindled, I remember how at this time some people I remember said it was dragging but for me every single interaction and dialogue they had somehow brought them closer together. The way Ashar stood up for Khirad and Hareem was a classic example, he has never ever degraded her in public or talked about her to anyone no matter what he thought, and by giving Sara the shut up call his love for his family was indirectly portrayed.
What I was saying in my last weeks comment that never posted was that Ashar really needs closure which he never got, the angry confrontations and questioning of Khirad especially the one after his mother called show a very hurt confused person. He never thought he would see her again and now is totally at a loss as to how to react so he tries to put her in her place thinking it will faze her but Khirad is beyond that and refuses to react as her sole concern is Hareem. She in a sense has closure as she thinks he read the letter and still acted the way he did so she is at a point where she is over him. I think her behavior makes Ashars desperation even more so in wanting to know the truth from her even more so. I see it as somewhere in his heart he must know she couldn't have done that to him.
But like Sadaf said the way they are all acting as a family at every opportunity is lovely, not letting Hareem get involved in their issues and defending eachother is wonderful parenting.
The bed scene just showed how the ice was melting ever so slowly, long lost feelings were being awakened , no matter how hard they tried, it was all over"

Wait, I want to get something straight. For everyone who considers Asher weak, is it strictly on the basis of his character being written as weak, or him as a man being weak? Or both?

I disagree with the popular viewpoint. I dont think Asher is weak. His biggest mistake was not listening to Khirad even ONCE as Batool points out. This part isnt properly justified in the serial. I am guessing his way of dealing with his pain was to shut it out completely. Thats why he refused to talk to Khirad or about Khirad to ANYONE. He never really had reason to disbelieve what his mom said until he met Khirad and Hareem again and saw the state which Khirad was in.

Last one I promise..

"In addition to Sadaf's point about the clinical way they talk about Khirad you also see that in the next episode when Farida enters the hospital and disposes of Batool in a you are dismissed way.I always thought it was a class issue or maybe even deeper you are not part of Farida's maternal family therefore you are disposable.
One of the things that I also noticed was Khirad in the last episode and this episode held Ashar's gaze.If we all remember (sigh good time )the email scene in episode 7 he talks about the fact that she cant maintain his gaze.So yes this Khirad confuses Asher even more.He expects this quiet non confrontional girl who is prepared to lie and hide an affair.Remember he refers to her robotic actions before they fall in love and he probably thought he was in for the same treatment. However, he gets the ice queen with fire in her eyes who takes no prisoners.
The wall scene was so passionate had this been Mills and Boons they could have just fallen into each others arms"

Yup... he never tries to find out about Khizar at any point of time, even when Khirad returns, he is not at all interested or inquisitive in knowing about what happened to him...

It is actually not about weak or strong... the goodness of his own character and the assumption are as genuine as he himself let him down... he should have heeded to his father;s words

Yes he should have...atleast he did come back to speak to Khirad. He should have gone after her even after his mom said she ran away with Khizer...atleast to 'kill' her so to speak.
