"You are my best friend yaar!," says Fawad Khans character Asher to his childhood friend Sara played by Naveen Waqar. If that that line reminds you the one that mouthed by Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan in Karan Johar's epic college drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, hold on. What follows thereafter is uncannily similar to KJO's popular movie. " Maine kabhibhi tumhare baare mein is tarah se nahi socha," adds Asher to clear in no uncertain terms that what flourished between him and his childhood pal was only pure friendship (now didn't Rahul and Anjali in KKHH shared the similar equation, at least in the first half of Kuch Kuch...) . Sara on the other hand had taken Asher's (romantic) love for her granted. Naturally, her heart sinks when Asher makes that heart-wrenching confession.

The new television series Humsfar (very popular in Pakistan) starring Fawad Khan has impressed us primarily because it doesn't drag on like our Hindi soaps where lead characters keep taking boundless leaps of faith..err generations, we mean-as more and more sub-plots keep getting added and new characters keep getting introduced to test our patience. We hear Humsafar has a definite story (only 23 episodes) and that means there will be a definite and sensible end to this show. As of now we are watching this series keenly, following every move every character makes in this one (especially that of the dishy Fawad)
Earlier in the second episode following incidents unfolded. Maimona is worried for Khirad and she requests Baseerat to get her daughter married. Baseerat decides that Khirad will marry Asher. When Baseerat informs Asher, his son is shocked, having no marriage plans and sees Khirad as his exact opposite. Asher is now caught in a sandwich situation. On the one hand he can't find a way to say no to his father and at the same time Sara is gets hysterical above the whole situation and gets increasingly possessive of Asher.
There's a serious tone of regressiveness to the show as far certain relationships are being portrayed with their emotional interplays. But at the same the show has a nice and warm feel to it that tugs at your heart-puling the right chords.
