@bold 1 for DNA part 5 🤣Originally posted by: RomAtHeart
So the curtains are down, and it was all black and white as Farida's master plan finally came into action. The blow has struck the lives of Ashar and Khirad, leaving them devastated.
Episode 11, the unarguable turning point of HS, was somehow to me a not so powerful episode as it should have been. Unlike yesterday's episode, which had left me teary eyed and anxious, today's episode failed to strike the right chords.Farida today was a huge put off. It was her character's pivotal part today, wherein the fake veil of love and care comes down to reveal her conniving self. But somehow the actress (I don't know her name) failed to deliver this transition with much power and effect. Her scenes in the drawing room drama looked forced and OTT, and her confrontation with Khirad back at their house was bleak too. I was expecting a powerhouse revelation, with some impressive expressions and bang on dialogues. But the lines were plain and predictable, the acting itself too thanda for a point as such.😕And her saying to prove that the child Khirad is expecting is Asahr's was just lame. DNA tests, anyone?LOL]The climax of the episode seemed dragged to me, and sadly resembled one of our Hindi serial scenes, which was the least expected from HS. Mahira was good, yes, but I wanted more than her just banging doors and screeching names.Khizar came and apologized to Khirad. REALLY NOW?! I mean how stupid is that? You stab someone right in the heart and then say sorry and get away with all your shit? You gotta be kidding me.But, Mahira was absolutely brilliant in that scene. I loved how she portrayed the utter shock of Khirad at this manipulative and selfish side of the world. For Khirad, who has just seen good in everyone until now, this version comes as an utter shock. And that pure disbelief for the existence of the harsh and cruel was conveyed with so much ease from Mahira, she found a fan in me right there. And the BG song that played as Khizar left was just perfect timing. I absolutely love the OST, and how precisely the lyrics fits the story. Awesome work there.👏Another high point for me in the show was Khirad falling on Ashar's feet. That scene touched me, and my heart went out for Khirad. It was her integrity at stake, and she was begging to her better half for some trust, some support, or at least to lend an ear to her version of things.Fawad too was amazing in the scene. His piercing silence, coupled with arched eyebrows, clenched jaw and that little tear in the corner of the eye- said it all. It was just now that he was recovering from his insecurities and then THIS. I will disagree from people who will say that Ashar should not have walked out, as it is very idealistic for a person to be calm and thoughtful in such a situation. What man won't get all worked up? Moreover when Khizar is admitting that he has an affair with the wife? It was a very natural human reaction, and I think Ashar walking away was also his way to prevent the volcano forming within him from erupting on Khirad, when there is scope that she could be harmless. And so, he goes away for some alone time and curb his anger, because not even in his wildest dreams would he have thought that his OWN mother could be behind all this and would throw out his wife in his absence. And as the precap suggests, he comes back to talk to his wife and listen the truth from her and that proves that he did not blindly believe the world and gave Khirad the benefit of doubt. But then, he was too late I guess.😭That little scene, Ashar crying in the car. One more high point, which totally got me quivering. Fawad never fails to awe me, and today was no different. Every muscle of his face is just perfectly choreographed. Crying scenes are always a challenge, and he did way more than justice to this one. Kudos!👏This scene, where Farida calls Khizar and tells her to take care of Asahr. "Usse ek kharaash bhi naa aaye." Really woman?! You have wounded him all over with this cheap stint of yours!😡😡Brilliant performances by Mahira and FK (as expected) but a disappointing delivery by the woman who plays Farida. The script too, in today's episode, could have used some improvisation as the lines, which were until now the USP of HS somehow lacked power today. But the background score stood out, some brilliant music and powerful lyrics.👏But all in all, it gets sad and sadder now. I am hoping for some high voltage drama tomorrow, and heart breaking scenes by FK and Mahira. You guys are the heart and soul of the show, keep up the good work.👏But well, all that aside. SHIT!😭
Roh has been kind enough to cover for me this week
When I watched Humsafar for the 1st time, I had 3 tabs open in my browser. Youtube, Google translate (Urdu to English) and the Humsafar Wikipedia page. I read the spoilers all the time, because I'm a sucker for spoilers. And inspite of that, I was shocked out of my wits with the turn of events in this episode. Yes, generally I'm as thick as a plank. But in this case I also think that the screenplay was so brilliant that no matter how much one knew in advance, one was surely affected by this episode.
Moving on to the revelation of the mega plot. Sara seemed to be accepting all of Ashar's refusals fairly easily - dinner, leaving for home earlier than scheduled. Was it only me who saw "that look" on her face when he talked about her getting married? In retrospect, it almost seemed to me as a look of "oh yeah, you're soon going to be married to me, you know!"
Ashar was clearly restless in the hotel, as Khirad was devastated at home. Remembering their time together, probably made Ashar realize how unreasonable and nasty he was to her, for no fault of hers. What a relief, when he actually picked up the phone to call her! **phew** When her phone rang, I almost thought she wouldn't answer it. But she did, and what a heartwarming beautiful conversation that was. "Nahin, mein aapse bilkul naraaz nahi hoon." I loved loved loved Mahira's voice modulation here for the umpteenth time! My eyes still flood every time during this conversation.
Coming to Khirad's ego, that has been discussed before; I felt this scene showed even more that she didn't have an ego but self respect. In a situation like this, when she was wronged, a big ego would have been a good reason to ignore the call.
Farida didn't give me hint about what she was up to. It's only when I watched it again, did I catch those glances and "innocent" statements which were actually so loaded. The plot unfolded, and went exactly as per her script. Ashar saw what she wanted him to see, Khirad was clearly losing the battle, and Khizar emerged as one of the key connivers. How Khirad pleaded! Every second in Khizar's house was heart wrenching. And his summing up with "all is fair in love and war" was perfectly revolting.
Finally we heard Baseerat's words that were ringing in Farida's head ever since episode#2. Today she had taken the reins in her hand, and was out to give it right back.
Khirad was assertive and anguished when she spoke to Farida on returning home. But as Farida went on to expose her true feelings for Khirad, she (K) realized what she was actually up against. After stating in strong words that this was her husband's house and she wouldn't leave till he returned, Khirad saw that she didn't stand a chance in this whole scheme. And that Farida might really physically throw her out, so she just let go of her stance and left the house in despair.
The conversation between Khirad and Noorafza brought out the extent of Farida's plan even more. She had carefully planned out every step, and so far it was progressing like clockwork.
Splendid work by Farida, Zarina, Khizar, Ashar and Khirad. Farida was fantastic in changing over from a supporting MIL to the complete vamp in a split second. Zarina's acting skills showing her tension was superb. It fell right into place for the plot to work. Khizar, the traitor, inspite of what I think of his dialogue delivery, made us hate him for what he did, which was the desired response. Have to give it to him, to make that happen. Ashar - well, he just took his part further with his talent. Mahirah, Mahirah, Mahirah. At the risk on being on a stuck record, to me no one else could have been Khirad. Her performance was par brilliant, and this was her episode completely.
If I were watching Humsafar when it was aired, I would have had ulcers waiting for the next episode. It wouldn't have been a week or 7 days, but 604800 seconds while I bit my nails and reached my elbows!
This episode must have got diverse reactions from everyone -those who read the novel, and those who didn't. Those who adored Ashar, and those who loved Khirad. Everyone must have a memory attached to watching this episode. Please share your thoughts and memories. And if you watched it real time, please also tell us how you lived till the next episode!
