After all these years of watching idealistic ladies on TV, silently weeping at the injustice done to them and continuously taking up challenges of setting everything right so miraculously, and having so high ideals about the concept of marriage, I finally find a show!!!

A lead protagonist who I can relate to!!

One who does not "pose" facing difficulties with a smile, but cribs without hesitation!

One who has no fairytale dreams or a blind belief that some divine power will set things for her, instead is realistic enough to know that she is a girl and her effort is just not enough, but she hasno choice!

One who does not consider a successful marriage as the ultimate destination, but thinks that she has better work to do than risk her time and life in playing the gamble whether she gets roses in life or thorns.

She has no qualms in feeling jealous of the rich, craves for going to college in a luxurious car and cribs about having to change 2 buses to reach college!!

Every scene that I watched Sanam enact the character of Kashaf, I found her repeat exactly the same lines I've been muttering when I went to college and when I went about looking for a job, and so convincingly!

The emotions were so natural breaking stereotypes where the female lead stands high inspite of difficulties. It was shown that she is perfectly human, can get pissed off at bad days, be pessimistic about her poverty as well as enjoy her victory and spend a little too much to pamper herself! No idealism, pure realism

Thanks CVs for giving us such a realistic approach towards life!! I am glad to have this serial aired on Indian TV and hope Indian audiences will like and relate to it as much as I did 👏

Thanks dear!

Honestly there are quite a few shows I like here, but ZGH is the one I can really relate to!
Youtube experience was not good enough, there's nothing like watching it on TV, all over again! 😊

I completely agree.
Kashaf is the one of the very few TV heroines I understand and relate to. Her misandry, her bitterness, her cynicism towards life- everything adds to her personality as a well-rounded human being, and not a mechanical doll of sunshine and rainbows like Indian TV heroines.
I love how she is so opinionated and has clear stance on every issue. I loved how she pointed out the basic flaw in fantasies of marital bliss. Every woman for herself- so very empowering. I love her. Sanam Saeed, if that is her name, is fabulous. So understated and subtle.

Agreed to the post above and the TM.
Nothing more to say. 😊.

But she is a cynic in a good way. I mean she doesn't let the negativity consume her. She seems like a person who barrels forward in spite of all the obstacles in her path. (Maybe she learned that from her mother).

Also I loved the way she took the plate laden with sweets from her sister.

Lovely post and you echoed my thoughts actually. When I first saw the series on youtube thanks to a friend recommendation, the thing which caught my eye was the character sketch of both the protagonists. Both are flawed individuals with their own set of principles, shortcomings and attitude towards life. Fe of the scenes and Kashaf reaction made me so dumbstruck as I said god this is me, I do that so often. She was not lecturing queen and preaching all the time like indian serial heroines. Her life was not perfect and she complained about it but along with that she worked hard too to reach her goals. Moreover I l8ved her liberated thought that woman does not need a husband to shower her with luxuries, you can do it for yourself too. She was bitter, she was opinionated, she was strong yet emotinally vuknerable at every step who craved for love and bel8nging, she was normal human being and thats why she was so relatble. Unlike indian serial bahus who do not have any other ambition after getting married and only know how to interfere in other people business and keep lecturing all.

I totally relate to Kashaf
In fact when I first watched the show I was like "Thats me!!!:"
So totally me
The way she is, her way of communicating, she stays aloof yet loves her family to the core, the way she is around boys
When my mom saw that epi where Maria tells Kashaf about how she is aloof n all my mom called out my name looked at me then at the TV n smiled huge
I burst out laughing coz she is who I am to a huge extent

i cannot relate to kashaf as i quite different but as much i saw her in 4 epis, m loving her character...as u said very much realistic...
they r showing very much realistic approach, any girl in her situation will react this way only... but i really like that she is strong girl and never hesitate to answer back who so ever dare to mess wid her...
and her thoughts abt marriage r so true..i wish i could be strong like her...
i understand this coz m standing on that edge...where i don't know whether m ready to play this gamble or not...
