Bang On post...

U Know I actually wanted to star a topic on Kashaf Murtaza's character...glad that U opened it...

Agreed wid Each n Every word U said...

I guess in each one of us There is Kashaf Murtaza...May be Not Perfectly as She is but Some Traits of her r Definitely therein each one of us...

Kashaf is one f Most Relatable Characters That I hv come Across on a TV Show...The Complexes She Goes through r So REAL...the Complains She tends To make all the time To Allah r something we too do to God everytime...How Much everyone say thart we shd be HAPPY wid whatever we have bt d reality we simply cant...n thats where d REALITY of kashaf's character is...the circumstances which she has gone through has made her See Life in such a Pssimistic way...its nt totally her fault n more than sympathising wid her we r actually able to understand her hardships...i think tht is the BEST THING...

She always Complains how she is not good Looking as d other University girls, has to change 2 buses to reach university, doesnt have money r so REAL...this is how we complain on every small thing in real life...i m so GLAD that There is a RELATABLE Character Like Kashaf on TV...

Thank You makers of ZGH for sketching a character like Kashaf...

Couldn't agree more! Never have I come across a character who is a replica of me in its true sense. i love Kashaf,i know what she's going throgh. Coz I am in the same situation as hers!
She's an educated independent woman who isn't ready to bow down the popular social demand of women staying at home,at the same time, she doesn't find the need to shed clothes, style herself just so she could "fit in" into the so called upper class!

As U said,we are used to the OTT glorifying the heroine in every possible situation, without her even doing anything. The "sehen shakti" ki devi. Pati aur sas sasur ke atyachaar ke khilaaf awaaz uthaati and blaa blaa. She falls into the trap of the devraanis and then overcomes it. Wow! The college going girl falls in love with a casanova guy and then their love story has problems. She belongs to a poor background, but manages putting on ounces of make-up and wear expensive clothes.

I mean duh,she is poor,right?

And honestly, are these the only sort of problems we women face? Are these the only kind of women that exist?

The answer is no. Most of these heroines are unrealistic. We deal with things more sensibly and do not sacrifice just coz our husbands belong to a superior class. We are strong and independent.

Yes,there is a need for shows which strengthen the idea of woman being powerful. But this saas bahu nonsense in no way does that!

Kashaf on the other hand is a much more realistic middle class, educated woman who deals with things as they come. She sacrifices, but that doesn't mean she wont complain about the harsh reallity of their livelihood

Thanks for the lovely responses guys!
The reason I wrote about Kashaf this way was because she bears so much in common with me!
Honestly, I was OK in studies, not brilliant like Kashaf, but then I had a target, to buy our own house and knew I HAD to do something to get it.
I couldn't afford correspondence courses for entrance exams and didn't get a good rank. And I cribbed endlessly about it, but then I did join it to make the best of whatever I had.
I've even cribbed frequently on how I never made many friends or dated anyone in college.
Precisely I had just one friend and she was a girl, who used to spend time with me cz she kinda sympathized with me being all aloof and yes, she was kinda studious and realized that she could discuss studies seriously with me.
I had that first day at college moment as well when I dressed up quite a lot and the bus chaos ruined 80% of it and the rest was completed by the rain and the mud. The very next day I was like, I give a damn to dressing up, in any way, I will never ever match up to those girls.
I even did crib about how some hostelites scored better than I did because they applied a planned divided study and cheating technique while I was alone to cover the whole syllabus myself, and yes I did think studies are no use unless you get the job.
I even hated the fact that college boys did so much to appease those pretty girls cz they got annoyed at stupid reason. I did think, what do they have that I don't and the answer was good looks, good looks and good looks!!!
Now I have a job, and am steady on the home loan payment but work is a different battle altogether.
My mom used to hate it when I used to always have that constantly annoyed expression on my face and used to show me TVshows as examples that folks in there do bear stuff with a smile.
I just has one answer, that they don't actually face it, its just acting!
Now I have something to show her that this is how people actually react to issues. It does take a lot to face problems and muster up courage to face it and not run away!
There's no harm cribbing if you do it before someone who understands and doesn't judge you.
Sanam has beautifully portrayed Kashaf's character and I am loving the way its progressing realistically. I also love the way Rafia tries to instigate positivity in her though she has her own demons to deal with!

the best part about this show is all the characters are realistic
Kashaf Murtaza, her mother, sisters , Zaroon & his family, his friends everything is so realistic
& you said it well i loved the way Kashaf's character has not shown like some goddess & shown really well...when someone has gone trough so much pain their faith from god disappears & that's not crime...Kashaf's character is shown & explained so well...I just love the parts when Kashaf is shown writting her diary...the thoughts & feelings are so beautifully shown & given words...same case with Zaroon's character...
one thoughtful show & deep & thoughtful character

After all these years of watching idealistic ladies on TV, silently weeping at the injustice done to them and continuously taking up challenges of setting everything right so miraculously, and having so high ideals about the concept of marriage, I finally find a show!!!

A lead protagonist who I can relate to!!

One who does not "pose" facing difficulties with a smile, but cribs without hesitation!

One who has no fairytale dreams or a blind belief that some divine power will set things for her, instead is realistic enough to know that she is a girl and her effort is just not enough, but she hasno choice!

One who does not consider a successful marriage as the ultimate destination, but thinks that she has better work to do than risk her time and life in playing the gamble whether she gets roses in life or thorns.

She has no qualms in feeling jealous of the rich, craves for going to college in a luxurious car and cribs about having to change 2 buses to reach college!!

Every scene that I watched Sanam enact the character of Kashaf, I found her repeat exactly the same lines I've been muttering when I went to college and when I went about looking for a job, and so convincingly!

The emotions were so natural breaking stereotypes where the female lead stands high inspite of difficulties. It was shown that she is perfectly human, can get pissed off at bad days, be pessimistic about her poverty as well as enjoy her victory and spend a little too much to pamper herself! No idealism, pure realism

Thanks CVs for giving us such a realistic approach towards life!! I am glad to have this serial aired on Indian TV and hope Indian audiences will like and relate to it as much as I did 👏

love it I already started loving it when the promo was aired on zindagi. I love Kashaf and zaroon and every part of the show.
