Wrong! I won't say wrong to your opinion, since that's obviously only yours to keep. I'll say wrong to how you interpreted my post.
In my really honest opinion, you can't compare an innate feature (here you talked about being dumb) with a work or happening (here the dance). You can improve your dance, any day, anytime by working hard, getting better at it and proving yourself and others that you also can do it. But being dumb is not a state of mind nor an act, it's a feature, it's in the genes, and it's something that you can't change. Watch again what Arshad told Karan: "Tum jitne bure dancer ho, utne hi ache entertainer bhi ho!" Note how the entertainer bit comes out AFTER the dancer bit, to highlight how he appreciates Karan as an entertainer, but also accepts that he is not a good dancer.
I think truth is truth. If Arshad's comment was simply an opinion rather than a fact, like Shilpa's one comment to Akshat which said she'd never accept his performance to be mediocre, I would have fully agreed with you! But Arshad's comment was not an opinion, it was a fact. There are truthful opinions, and then there are truthful facts. The former breaks your self-confidence, as you said, whilst the latter does the total opposite, increases your confidence. If I would have been in Karan's place, it would have initially felt hurtful and awkward, but knowing I am not a good dancer, and seeing Arshad really believes I can do better, I would go out of my way to prove I can.
However I guess, at the end of the day, there's a thin line between being rude and being blunt. Just like there is between being pride and being vain/arrogant. So I guess it would be subjective from person to person. What is rude for one, can easily be the right thing for another, whereas what is blunt for one, like in Siddhesh's case, could easily seem arrogant to others.
P.S I love that Ishan-Suhana avi you have. They're a wonderful couple aren't they? 😳
Now i have to disagree with you, being stupid, being stupid is no more an innate feature than dance, i know people who were considered stupid and then went on to become some of the greatest minds in the world, people who where different so the world thought them as stupid, i would consider dance to be more innate than brains, because your skill of dance is what is called in in born gift, while brains is something almost everyone has to grow with time, so its kinder to call someone stupid, because then they can grow, rather than insult a person saying your a bad dancer, because he may not be able to do anything about it.
Arshad did not mean it as a constructive criticism, you don't constructively criticize beginning your sentence with, no one will be surprised if i say your a bad dancer, it may be a stating of facts, but in the midest of your peers and friends, i'm sure it would have felt like an insult, and i'm sure Arshad knew that it was one. that is why he suger coated it with your a great entertainer. I know i can't change your opinion but in my most humble opinion, there are ways of conveying even the worst opinion in a good way, there is a famous saying by Lord Buddha, The tongue is like a sharp knife, kills without drawing blood. what arshad did was similar to that, he killed Karan's spirit without drawing blood or to say without making himself look bad by using those sweet words after this.
I usually won't defend a point so much if i didn't really believe in it. but i respect your opinion as well. i'm not so hurt because i'm a fan of Karan's (which is only part of it) i'm also hurt because it was not the way to express your opinion to a human being who is trying his very best to improve.
p.s- yha i love Ishaan and Suhana, they are really sweet and shows the reality of life as it is.
