Sonagachi was a novel story field for me, don't know if such a field has been explored before. Though I've seen promos before it aired & thought it must be interesting, I forgot all about it. Then again it was in the news for leap about to happen & I started watching on zee5. For a show based on sonagachi & its residents it was very decently made & was interesting to watch the kids & all the characters were well played. But then it started dragging & I started skipping episodes, only reading WUs' till the leap. I feel leap must have happened at least 1 month before. After leap watched all episodes and finally caught up with the current episodes last week.

Vrukshika Mehta is an excellent choice, I've seen her in IB in a brief role & even then wondered why such a beautiful girl with graceful dance moves was given such a small role. She is too good, naachthi badiya hai and love her voice modulation.

Avinash Mishra too was in IB for some time & he was quite wooden in his expressions and voice modulation compared to the very talented cast of IB. Here too he started off stiff but can see improvement in his acting & he has started growing on me gradually and hope he will keep improving.

As a couple they are very good, got sizzling chemistry.

All characters are well acted, I especially like Beauty & Hridoy. Kudos to the actors.

Story is quite fast paced. In any other serial, it would have taken Shan at least a year and innumerable misunderstandings to find out that Asmita is Puchki, another year for Asmita to know that Shan knows she is Puchki, 2 years for them to realise that they love each other and another 2 years and countless misunderstandings for them to confess their feelings while the whole time the story would have stagnated. So 6 years worth of story has been done with in 6 weeks after the leap. Bullet train compared to ITV goods train standards.

There are many illogic scenes and too many dream sequences but only a new comer to ITV will expect logic, everyone else knows that you have to freeze your logical mind while watching ITV or even Indian movies for that matter. So there is no point in talking/discussing/getting frustrated about it, just troll it, have a good laugh & leave it at that.

One thing I like about this show is the type of closeness the leads have is portrayed in accordance with the background they come from. Any average girl & boy of this age would be shy/coy, steal glances, talk through their eyes, a simple touch of fingers will kindle their feelings etc especially the girls. But these 2 are not from normal background, they have grown up in a place where the physical was not hidden from the kids and so they have no hesitation in touching each other, holding each other's faces or going for the kiss so early, it looks so natural. Don't know if I'm making sense.

Anyway, I'm liking what I see and hope the makers maintain the pace and give a good story, but sometimes I wonder, at this pace will this be a finite series? Once the Niveditha exposure happens how will they take it forward, I'm not good at speculating and so will enjoy till the going is good.

Hey...Nice take. I have been a silent reader of this forum since post leap. Helps me in skipping episodes as well 😆...

The pace is great and yes, 6 years' story has been covered in mere 6 weeks!! Astonishing indeed. That's the precise reason I am sticking even when extreme manhandling literally forces me to quit. You have provided a somewhat apt explanation w.r.t. all the push/pulls, that the kids of a red light area are indeed different while expressing. But my idea was Shantanu would be polished owing to his UK upbringing and also more than that Daadi-Bua's influence. Anyways, ITV & logic are mutually exclusive, so no point in discussing.

Also, I am pleasantly surprised with Ashmita's characterization. Till now, except for those manhandling sequences (which I will expect that the CVs will avoid in future), she seems to be strong, grounded & level-headed. Won't comment on intelligence since I don't imagine any ITV lead to have any grey matter onscreen!!

Regarding Shantanu, honestly I have never watched any lead flip-flopping like he is doing. He manhandles, utters derogatory remarks, tries to confess, post engagement, to his brother's fiance, confesses in drunken stupor, very next day asks her to forget and move on, kisses her in the very next minute, then declares marriage date without asking whether the other parties are ready, asks his love to marry his brother claiming that he loves his brother above all (😆), in the mean while provokes Asmita to confess her love to him 😲 !!! Akhir banda chaahta kyaa hai 😕!!!!

Chemistry is top-notch no doubt. I have watched VM in D3. Liked her in that series. She is no exception here.

One point I must mention that the team must give attention to the Bengali words they are using. Either they should use them with the correct pronouciations or just don't bother to use them at all...

Bang on about Shan's behaviour 👏, he is one confused guy. But he has been like this even as a kid, flip flops, angry in front, crying when alone etc so there is at least continuity in his character.
Yeah the makers should avoid the man handling scenes and I wish they don't show Shan showering/shirtless too often. Asmita is shown to be far more intelligent than most of the dumbo FLs' on ITV. Hopefully they don't dumb her down. Amid all the bakwaas super natural stories and dragfest trp toppers, this is one show which is maintaining its pace and some intense emotional episodes, let's enjoy while the going is good.

100% agree. The most irritating bit is his bhai prem more than his Nivi Maa jaaps. He claims that he loves his brother the most and yet he is literally backstabbing him by speeding up this marriage process. And the less being said about Hridoy the better !!! Though LG is doing really great. If I am correct he is a very good dancer too. I hope to watch a performance from him as well. Dreams/imaginations are, any way, taking up more time than the reality 😆...

At least his Bhai Prem is understandable, it is genuine love mixed with guilt & regret but for the life of me I can't understand his Nivi Maa jaap. He knows very well how she much hates him but still..😡.He doesn't know he is backstabbing his bro, thinks he is doing some mahaan sacrifice for his little brother's love.
